Accounting Operations Manager

Working with one of Greater Vancouver's high profile organizations you will get to lead the Operational Accounting and Financial Processes and Systems groups to create a new standard of excellence for the challenging future ahead.

Here are the areas that you will get to have an impact on:


*Assist the Division Manager with spending management to maximize effective and efficient expenditure of allocated funds within the approved budget.



*Actively participate within a leadership role with budget preparation and planning process within the Division as well as propose strategies to effectively use resources and prepare business cases for improvement.



*Contribute to implementing new accounting standards or requirements and supporting the Division Manager with the design, implementation and monitoring of internal policies and procedures.



*Plan and coordinate the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports and provide financial information to internal and external clients as needed.



*Contribute in the planning of the annual audit and provides reports and data to the external auditors as requested. Ensures the ongoing integrity of the general ledger and promptly investigates variances.



*Identify financial and system enhancement opportunities and evaluating solutions for new or changing operational requirements.



*In consultation from the Division Manager, you will get to implement new processes, procedures, requirements and regulations and participate in the development, testing and support of system software (Finance; HR/Payroll; and the Enterprise Asset Management Systems.)



*Grow and evolve your team from sourcing and selection to mentoring and leadership guiding your team to deliver successfully towards division, department, and corporate objectives; Instill a culture that fosters recognition of the importance of technical and safety training in all areas of practice.



*Participate in the planning and execution of major initiatives such as the implementation of new public sector accounting standards or system upgrades and provide data and reports to keep the leadership team current with developments.



Desired background:


*Professional Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA)



*Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures and systems applicable to finance, accounting, auditing and related Financial Services systems and functions.



*Quick learner to able to get up to speed on by-laws, regulations, statutes, policies and controls governing the operations of the Financial Services Department.



*Sound knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) ideally within the Public Sector



*Demonstrated ability to analyze, test, develop and implement computerized accounting operations systems using a complex ERP solution such as Unit 4 Business World and PeopleSoft.



*Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, achieve objectives and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.



*Leadership and mentoring talents including the ability to understand and consistently interpret, apply and effectively communicate collective agreements and corporate policies;



*Ability to motivate others to meet their goals and deadlines though a pull to achieve approach rather than a push approach.
