Director, Tax l $150K+ - $180K+ l Vancouver, BC l Permanent

Adecco Professionals has partnered up with a leading manufacturer client and they are seeking for a Director, Tax, overseeing the team, strategy and execution required for the company’s domestic and international taxes including income tax, property tax, capital tax, sales tax and employment tax. The Director, Tax will work collaboratively across functional areas to support business transactions, acquisitions, divestitures and financings, and develop international tax structures.


Responsibilities:

• Management of the corporate tax provision, compliance, advisory and audit activities.
• The development and implement the company’s corporate tax strategy in alignment with business objectives while maintaining compliance with local and federal tax regulations and accounting policies.
• Providing proactive, timely and high quality services and counsel to drive the company’s strategic agenda, support future growth and contribute to overall shareholder value while managing risk.
• Develop and implement long term strategies, business practices and corporate policies concerning tax and compliance that aligns with the organizations overall strategy.
• Managing the preparation of Canadian and U.S. Federal and state income tax returns and provisions.
• Review corporate tax planning and compliance engagements.
• Managing government tax audits and property tax initiatives.
• Ensuring tax financial reporting requirements are met, including preparing detailed tax provision calculations and other ad-hoc requests relating to accounting for taxes, for both Canadian and U.S. operations.


Requirements:

• A degree in Law, Finance, Tax or Accounting.
• Additional specialized education including a Master’s in Taxation or accounting designation/qualification is preferred.
• 8+ years of Canadian tax experience ideally with a foundations in public practice.
• Exposure to the legal field and multinational corporations required, exposure to US tax would be highly regarded
• A demonstrated track record of success negotiating and dealing with tax authorities and auditors.
• Expert understanding of Canadian and U.S. tax legislation and compliance issues.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP financial statements.
