Our client, a leading Aerospace parts manufacturing company, is looking for a Materials Manager to join their team in the GTA.
The Materials Manager is responsible for the effective team building, stratification, planning of implementation, continuous improvement and management of materials strategies to meet delivery requirements and site financial goals.
Some of the requirements include:
Develop, implement and manage a cross-functional, fully integrated planning process that incorporates, capacity planning, scheduling, and inventory
Performs analysis of customer demand, sales forecasts and historical material usage to develop and execute production schedules
Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and process that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control.
Prepares customer delivery reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and uses information to proactively communicate potential late deliveries.
Supervises production scheduling activities by monitoring material inventories, work order activity and tracking progress of production and reviewing factors that affect schedules.
Develop and execute a sourcing strategy to support growth and sourcing requirements.
Develop and manage positive relationships with existing and potential suppliers of goods and services to meet the established cost, quality and delivery targets.
Responsible for accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with Finance, an inventory control system, capable of identifying discrepancies in inventory counts and taking corrective action to guard against inconsistencies in the future.
Support quarterly budget reviews and provide necessary supporting documentation to senior leadership.
Develop and execute cost savings improvement plans to align with the overall company directives and report out to senior leadership
A proven record of implementing and sustaining ERP, Lean Manufacturing principles, cellular work teams, Kanban, 5S, Kaizen and other continuous improvement programs
Minimum 8 years’ experience managing production planning of a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment that includes precision CNC machining and sheet metal fabrications
Experience in aerospace industry or similar manufacturing environments are preferred
Level of Education:
Degree/Diploma in Business Administration and/or Operation Management required
CPIM certified or in pursuit is an asset
