Adecco is currently hiring a Data Specialist for one of our clients located in downtown Toronto, ON. This client is a leading employer in the financial services industry. The chosen individual will act as a key member of the finance management reporting team and will be responsible for compiling & interpreting complex financial data from various service lines across the firm. To be successful in this position, you need to possess two to five years of analytical experience in a finance role and obtain a Bachelor’s degree or professional certification in a related field. This is a six month contract with an hourly pay rate of $28.65 per hour.

The Data Specialist Job Responsibilities Include:
• Execute advanced formulas in support of our client’s management reporting function
• Compile and interpret complex financial data from various service lines across the firm
• Upload data to proprietary SQL database and/or excel and execute business intelligence analysis
• Develop standard and customized reports or key excel modelling for internal and external customers; including executives
• Provide analytical support to company leadership by providing custom reports, ad-hoc analysis
• Leverage a strong knowledge of the Firm’s financial model, systems and processes to act as a point of reference for leaders and finance colleagues
• Provide a future focused outlook to help to identify pending issues and identify opportunities for improvement in the delivery of financial information to the practice
• Build relationships with finance peers supporting other services and reporting experts to share best practices and insights
• Participate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in firm wide initiatives, fostering integration and collaboration across regions and services
• Support the identification and integration of any new technology and the enhancement of current platforms

The Data Specialist Job Requirements Include:
• 2 - 5 years of analytical experience in a finance or support related role
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and/or a professional certification in a related field, especially in reporting support or Excel
• Finance & Accounting background or related education preferred but Excel is key
• Possess strong understanding of the business model, across all service lines
• Exposure to Business Intelligence concepts and tools (certification is an asset)
• Additional skills is a strong asset to have but not a must: Computer language and software proficiencies include SQL, BI Reporting Tools, Cognos, C++, BASIC, MATLAB, ProModel and all aspects of Microsoft Office (especially Excel with PowerPivot)
• Expert level in Excel; advanced model building in spreadsheets including financial and operational driver calculations, pivot tables, LOOKUP formulas, Conditionals and SUMIF’s with ability to translate from XLS to Multi-dimensional technologies
• Strong experience with improving current processes to make more efficient, streamline and control focus improvements.
• Experience with SAP ECC 6.0 FI/CO would be an asset
• Excellent presentation skills, written and verbal communications skills
• Excellent mathematical and data management skills; attention to details, numbers and data quality
• English: Fluent; French and Spanish language skills would be an asset (verbal and written)
