ROEVIN Technical People is looking for a Shop Foreman for a client in Mississauga, Ontario. The selected candidate will, ideally have eight years of experience in a Shop Foreman role or similar in a manufacturing environment. Shop Foreman Job Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, and leads the flow of work through the sales/service department in a professional, timely manner while ensuring customized quality product is provided to the customer. You would run the day to day operation of the shop and delegate work to the apprentice mechanics, assemblers, machinist and installers.
Duties include the following, other duties may be assigned:
*Schedules shop work to facilitate maximum productivity in accordance with the technician skill level required.
*Assigns subordinate personnel to work details and inspects work in progress and upon completion to insure that it meets required standards; inspects items reported to be in need of repair; estimates time, materials, and costs for work to be built, repaired, and refinished.
*Plans, lays out, and supervises all work of the cabinet shop; advises carpenters on solution of problems relating to cabinet making
*Reviews job status frequently, logging status and reporting any change in time or cost estimates to the appropriate service advisor and/or customer.
*Supervises the operation and maintenance of woodworking machines including table saws, planers, jointers, drill presses, and other machines and tools used to cut, shape, and assemble parts from stock.
*Maintains an organized and up-to-date orders log.
*Communicates job status with the entire team.
Qualifications of the Shop Foreman:
*Minimum eight years of related experience as a journeyman cabinet maker
*Must have supervisory or lead experience and/or skills to lead and manage by example
*Ability to interpret and work from drawings, plans, and blue prints.
*Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other
*Ability to create a positive work culture
*Must be able to read blueprints and overseeing inventory
*Must have excellent organizational skills and an ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
*Knowledge of woodworking and finishing, wood types, reclaimed wood types, wood finishes would be an asset
*Must have an ability to schedule work accurately, maintain a regular workflow, & set delivery expectations
*Must be able to manage shop equipment for maintenance, safety & efficiency
*Must have knowledge in Store Fixtures & Displays
