Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings in Edmonton, AB
Roevin Engineering and Technology is currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings that can provide technical and business development expertise and leadership to our clients Structural Engineering practice in their Buildings Engineering group. Projects will vary in size in sectors ranging from commercial developments to major research laboratories, healthcare, and education facilities. You will also have the opportunity to work with senior team leadership to grow this group and increase their market share.
The Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings responsibilities are:
*Coordinate structural engineering effort with other engineering disciplines;
*Review work of junior to intermediate engineers through a thorough knowledge of structural engineering applications.
*Provide mentorship of engineers and undertake their performance evaluations;
*Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work including knowledge of computerized methods;
*Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements or construction methods;
*Manage the tendering process including addendum and tender report preparation;
*Work with government agencies to obtain approvals.
*Oral and written communication with clients, vendors, contractors and government agencies including reports, letters and presentations;
*Prepare or assist in preparation of proposals, conceptual studies, detailed designs, and reports;
*Review project controls, cost estimates, quantity takeoffs and manpower requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
The Senior Structural Engineer - Buildings qualifications are:
*To be considered for this role you MUST have detailed knowledge of the design of building structures which include commercial, multi family, mixed use, light industrial and institutional buildings;
*Minimum 8 - 10 years of post-graduation experience in Senior Design & Project Management positions;
*Experience in relevant areas which includes design and rehabilitation of structures;
*Licensed (or eligible) as a Professional Engineer within the Province of Alberta;
*Extensive understanding of all applicable codes and standards
*Solid leadership, time management, project management, communication and team building skills are critical;
*Proficient with sales and marketing with the ability to produce steady income;
*Microsoft Word and Excel understanding, required.
