Our client in Leamington, ON is looking for a GROUP CONTROLLER & BUSINESS UNIT CONTROLLER to join their team on a fulltime basis.

Purpose of the role:

1. Operating (or arranging the operation of) and determining the rules for a modern and transparent accounting system that is compliant with statutory requirements and the companies rules and regulations.
2. Shaping and configuring the planning & control cycle to ensure that the management boards receive prompt and reliable management information.
3. Establishing (or arranging the establishment of) a management control system for reporting on operations and managing risks identified.
4. Generating advice and proposals for financial and economic policy.
5. Enhancing the professionalism, performance, motivation and multi-functional deployment of financial and administrative staff within the department
6. Determining the rules for and supervising the efficient management of liquid assets
7. Managing liquid assets within the framework of policy formulated by the group.
8. Shaping and configuring HR and ICT policy within the group frameworks.

Job requirements

1. Qualified to university level, based on a completed qualification in business economics or accountancy, followed by job-related courses and/or qualifications.
2. Five years of relevant working experience as a group controller in a medium-sized company operating internationally with several branches that develops, markets and produces its own technical products or as a chartered accountant or auditor at a large accountancy firm with wide auditing experience at medium-sized companies operating internationally.
3. Knowledge of financial/economic and accounting processes, modern business operations, business risks and risk management, the budgeting and policy cycle and planning & control.
4. Knowledge and experience of modern reporting and consolidation systems, ERP systems, analysis and reporting tools and advanced proficiency in MS-Excel.
5. Experience of running complex project accounting.
6. Highly-developed communication and social skills.
7. Good grounding in organisational accounting, information and system technology and business economics.
8. Thorough knowledge of local legislation and regulations, taxation and imports/exports.
9. Trustworthy and independent.
10. Analytical and precise.
11. Decisive, willing to take the initiative and focused on results.
12. Proficient in the local language and English, orally and in writing.
