Our client in Markham, ON is looking for a Junior Assistant Controller to join their team on a fulltime basis. They are looking for someone with a professional accounting designation or someone nearing completion along with 3-5 years of solid financial statement preparation and payroll experience. The Junior Assistant Controller will exercise his/her knowledge and experience in meeting all GAAP requirements in the areas of finance and accounting by assisting in all accounting-related operational/administrative functions. Using industry best practices for the development of processes, policies and procedures, this role executes strategic plans to realize the operational requirements and growth opportunities available to the Company, culminating in the ability to meet all audit requirements.

Junior Assistant Controller Duties:

*Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of financial and operations standards, accounting policies, and procedures

*In collaboration with the Controller and other Senior Management, develop operational procedures and documentation of data flow

*Assist in the establishment, execution, and maintenance of accounting processes and procedures to meet all external audit requirements

*Responsible for managing operational data and ensuring data integrity and accuracy

*Create, calculate, and post journal entries

*Reconciliation of general ledger accounts

*Create accruals and prepare monthly and year-end financial statements for all Companies

*Reconcile inventory balances and posting of periodic inventory adjustments

*Compile, analyze and distribute summary information related to KPIs

*Prepare documentation and audit working papers for the external year-end audit firm

*Prepare monthly bank reconciliations

*Perform payroll and related administration duties as required

*Assist in the preparation of yearly budgets and cash flows as required

*Monitor actual expenses against budget on monthly basis

Junior Assistant Controller Requirements:

*University degree in accounting or finance - ideally with designnation

*Three to six years of similar experience

*Solid knowledge of ERP accounting systems considered an asset

*Skilled with various year-end audit activities
