A Plating Maintenance Leadhand job is currently available in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The selected candidate will, ideally have a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) or higher, Licensed Industrial Electrician 442A. As well Minimum ten years of industrial experience. Previous experience with supervising others in a manufacturing environment preferred.This is a great opportunity for to work for a solid reputable company in Richmond Hill. This is a Permanent Position.

Responsibilities of the Plating Maintenance Leadhand include:

The Plating Maintenance Leadhand reports to the Electrical Supervisor and is responsible for the daily maintenance of all mechanical functions in the plant, ensuring preventative maintenance is completed while minimizing downtime and keeping production running. The Plating Maintenance Leadhand troubleshoots PLCs and communication between pieces of equipment. The Plating Maintenance Leadhand is responsible for the supervision of department functions as pertaining to assigning work duties, ensuring smooth and timely operations and completion of paperwork and files required. Supervises plating maintenance team in plant machine maintenance, alteration and repair in Electrical Supervisor’s absence.



Qualifications of the Plating Maintenance Leadhand:


Repair and maintain all equipment and machines, including modification of existing equipment and installation of new equipment, ensuring efficient, safe operation of all machinery with the shortest downtime.
Troubleshoot and diagnose faults, tune equipment, ensure adequate control and security measures are established and enforced.
Programming logical controllers and peripheral devices used to control automated machinery.
Troubleshoot PLCs and communication between pieces of equipment.
Develop new PM’s as required, and ensure all PM tasks completed by due dates.
Make suggestions to improve PM effectiveness and equipment improvement.
Supervise the team members and contractors, monitor work progress and final inspection upon completion of work.
Be on call after regular hours and to respond to emergency requests.
Assist in the defining equipment specification, prepare cost estimates planning and forecasting new projects make recommendations and provide technical support.
Keep inventory on stocked spare parts, make requisitions for new spare parts as required.
Provide training for members of the plating maintenance team.
Complete preventive maintenance forms, work orders and reports daily.
Follow lock out procedure.
Work with the Electrical Supervisor to learn all requirements of the plating maintenance department.
Work as the Electrical Supervisor’s backup in his absence.
Maintain a safe and clean workplace environment.
Perform all work in good standard.
Work in a manner consistent with the measures and procedures required by the occupational health and safety act and Polybrite safety rules and regulations, and use or wear the equipment and protective devices required by the company.
Support and participate in division and department improvement initiatives through continuous improvement suggestion program and sharing of knowledge, ideas, and/or best practices with co-workers.
Participate as an active member on cross-functional teams for continuous improvement projects.
Comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Comply with all ISO/TS16949 policies and procedures.
Comply with all ISO14001 policies and procedures.
Perform any other reasonable request by management.


Computer Skills: PLC Programming, Allen Bradley, Omron, good working knowledge of MS Office Applications. Knowledge of SCADA software, PLC communication protocols such as Ethernet, RS485, etc.
Licenses/Permits Required: Industrial Electrician 442A
Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb ladders as required, lift 40 pounds, and stand or sit for extended periods of time.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Additional Education/Experience/Skills:

Excellent understanding of PLC, ladder logic, AC/DC drives, microcomputer control
Must be available for regular weekend overtime.
Operating knowledge of all machinery, equipment and services.
Abide to Canadian standards association and Ontario hydro electrical code book
