Adecco is currently assisting our client in the recruitment of a Senior Network Support Engineer for a permanent opportunity in the west end of Ottawa. The perfect candidate for this position will be an expert in a networking environment and has experience troubleshooting network protocols.

This is a senior level role requiring candidates to have excellent English communication skills and an excellent understanding of networking and Linux space resolving L2/L3 issues. The salary range for this role is 65k-75k depending on experience. Our client operates in a 24/7 environment so candidates for this position should ideally be available for all shifts. This growing company offers a full compensation package including benefits and vacation.

Senior Network Support Engineer Responsibilities
- Takes ownership of customer reported network issues and provides assistance in quick service restoration and problem resolution.
- Reproduces customer reported issues and works with internal teams to provide a resolution.
- Ensures management of customer expectations and resolution of technical issues in a timely manner.
- Provides necessary support to the Service Managers for high profile technical escalations.
- Develops and maintain troubleshooting skills on all Check Point products and technical knowledge in industry standard based technologies.

Position Requirements
- 4+ years of experience working in the networking and/or Linux space resolving L2/L3 issues.
- Experience troubleshooting network related technologies: 802.1q VLANs, Multicast, VRRP and/or similar clustering mechanisms, static and dynamic routing (BGP & OSPF).
- Basic understanding of enterprise network protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SCP/SSH, ICMP, DNS, NFS/SMB).
- Experience providing support to direct customers, resellers, O&M, and field personnel in resolving company product related issues.
- Understanding of how to analyze data traces from protocol analyzers and traffic generators.
- Experienced in managing and troubleshooting Linux or Unix based operating systems.
- BS/MS in a computer related field preferred
