Adecco is currently hiring for a Human Resource Manager for our client in Pickering, ON. To qualify for the Human Resource Manager opportunity you must have 7 years experience working in human resources along with at least 3 years of managerial experience. This opportunity is a contract, with chance to be eligible for permanent hire for the right candidate.

HR Manager Position Summary:

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for all human resource activities for the division including, providing advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation; as well as, coordinating the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural concerns and inquiries.

HR Manager Responsibilities:

Human Resources Management
Ensure management activities regarding human resource issues are legally compliant.
Facilitate change management and initiate projects where the need exists. Share best practices with other divisions to assist with HR Standardization.
Reporting including month end KPI’s, Payroll Hours and costing, etc.

Employee Relations
Provide guidance and advice to Supervisors/Managers, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation including discipline and performance management.
Assist employees in problem resolution.
Chair the employee committees, be visible on plant floor, organizing staff events, etc.
Maintenance of employee communication systems such as bulletin boards and employee form centres.
Employee rewards and recognition and perk programs.

Health, Safety and Environmental
Lead Safety Committee. Hold monthly meetings and drive Continuous Improvement including improving safety behaviours.
Partner with General Manager and leadership team on a minimum of 3 Safety Projects per year.
Claims Management for Occupational and Non-Occupational illnesses and injuries including communicating with employees, physicians, benefits providers, insurance companies and Managers.
Monitor progress of employees who are on return to work or modified programs to ensure smooth integration.
Ensure compliance to H&S legislation, policies, strategies and procedures.
Implement and support enforcement of programs such as Contractor Safety, Hot Work, Working at Heights, PPE Requirements, etc.
Support the Health and Safety Program in all areas of the business, specifically assisting and writing appropriate procedures.
Work to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents and injuries.
Receive and investigate reports of accidents, dangerous occurrences and damage; determine their cause making recommendations and monitoring improvements to prevent recurrence.
Identify training needs of staff and liaise with managers to coordinate staff for training courses.

Talent Management
Drive site Human Capital Plan including succession planning, building individual development plans for high potential talent, etc.
Provide direction, guidance, support of the employee training and development function.
Ensure rollout and communication of new and existing training programs.
Create and deliver Employee training such as Workplace Violence and Harassment, Ethics Policy, etc.
Recommend, develop and maintain human resource processes and policies, training logs and tracking systems.
Ensure site participation in corporate Development Programs for emerging technical and management talent.

Recruitment
Provide direction, guidelines, support and generally oversee the recruitment function.
Job postings, interviews, recommendations, offer letters, candidate responses, organizational announcements, etc.
Consult and support Managers in addressing workforce and retention needs and issues.
Onboarding of new candidates including set up on all systems, file creation, internal communications, orientation, scheduling probation reviews, etc.
Ensure legislative requirements are followed with respect to HR due diligence, Interviewing Techniques, Offers of Employment, Orientation, Benefits, and Employee Handbook.

Compensation & Benefits
Biweekly payroll processing.
Benefits and Retirement Savings Plan facilitation.
Maintain HRIS system including Time & Attendance, Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting and any future added modules.

HR Manager Requirements:
• Minimum 7 years related human resources management experience in a role with 3+ years in a managerial role
• University degree or College Diploma in Human Resources
• Relevant designation achieved or in progress
• Demonstrates the ability to build and develop meaningful, professional, and responsive relationships
• Presents a professional image of confidence and decisiveness when dealing with people
• Acts in a compassionate and supportive manner
• Project leadership skills a definite asset
• Demonstrates a strong knowledge of Employment Practices as it relates to HR concepts and applications around disability management, Benefits programs, Health and Safety due diligence, Recruitment, Payroll, and Employee Relations
