Roevin Engineering and Technology (a division of The Adecco Group), on behalf of our client, Petro-Canada Lubricants, is currently hiring for a Mechanical Engineering-in-Training with Petro-Canada Lubricants. The Plant Engineering Group has a great opportunity for a Mechanical EIT who is looking to develop hands on mechanical engineering and project management skills within a refining environment. The Plant Engineering group is responsible for providing timely engineering support for maintenance and turnaround activities in order to maintain a reliable Lubricants facility.
This position is not eligible for International Relocation Program benefits.

The Mechanical Engineer-In-Training should expect to develop the following capabilities within the role:
- A good understanding of internal engineering standards as well as industry standards/codes (ASME B16.5, B31.3, Section 8 Div 1, API, etc.).
- Project management skills including scope development (concept selection/design basis/front end engineering design), project execution planning, stakeholder management, detailed engineering design and system commissioning activities as well as the application of the project implementation process.
- Being able to identify and engineer out constructability, operability, and maintainability design concerns/issues.
- Gain experience within an operating Lubricants refinery including exposure to pressure vessels, boilers, heaters, reactors, atmospheric/vacuum towers, heat exchangers, rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines), and piping systems (150# to 2500# class).

MECHANICAL ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING - RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Providing engineering support facility Turnarounds. Work would include:
- Working with operations, maintenance, reliability, and planning personnel to define accurate engineering scopes of work.
- Producing replacement in kind (RIK) packages for piping systems, heat exchangers, pressure vessels and other mechanical components.
- Coordinating engineering packages for minor plant modifications (MPM) typically revolving around piping systems but could include instrumentation/electrical/civil work as well.
- Provide engineering field support during the actual Turnaround (Could include shift work).
- Provide Ready for Operations (RFO) support during pre-commissioning activities.

2. Providing engineering support for normal plant maintenance. Work would include:
- Producing RIK packages for piping systems, heat exchangers, pressure vessels and/or various mechanical components.
- Coordinating engineering packages for MPM (typically revolving around piping systems but could include instrumentation/electrical/civil work as well
- Small project execution following the project implementation process including concept selection, front end engineering design, detailed engineering design, installation, and commissioning.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

EXPERIENCE:
None required

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
Degreed Engineer, with a Bachelor?s of Mechanical Engineering

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Basic knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts and ability to apply this knowledge analytically. Basic ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential. Advanced reading and writing skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations

WORK CONDITIONS:
Office and Petroleum Refinery/Industrial environment based with up to 10% travel required by land or air. Subject to varying road and weather conditions and required to work in all temperatures including out-of-doors. Required to work in a warehouse/plant environment and out of doors. Works near moving mechanical parts and/or rotating equipment.
