Senior Business Developer- Building Energy Performance

The firm also provides innovative financing arrangements to assist leading organizations in public, private, social, and educational sectors to achieve optimum cost saving results through renewable energy facility retrofits.
Due explosive growth and continued expansion across Canada our client has an immediate requirement in their Toronto division for a Senior Business Development Manager with extensive expertise selling into Building Energy Management, Building Retrofit/Building Renewal and/ or Energy Performance Contracting sectors.
Reporting to the President you will be part of the commercial services team and will be a responsible for developing a robust go-to-market business strategy. You will spear head the growth of business sales activity in the commercial property, utility, municipal, educational and social housing sectors.
Sell energy performance contracting, energy efficiency solutions and building renewal/retrofit services to clients in the commercial property, utility, municipal, educational and social housing sectors.
Ontario that enable key clients to reduce energy and other operations expenditures
Develop new business (annual contracts in the $10 million plus range) across the Ontario region focused on the commercial property, municipal, social housing, education and utility sectors
Make key sales presentations at the C-level/Executive level with qualified prospects regarding their energy saving and facility retrofit objectives across multiple building assets
Intelligently discuss finance and capital construction costs/models with multiple stakeholders in the public and private sectors
Present and articulate ROI models, energy bench marking and payback periods associated with proposed energy efficient and renewable energy systems
Develop RFP, Proposals and Tender documents to secure new business and long term contracts
Effectively complete utility data analysis, building surveys and needs assessment, financial justification and related proposals and presentations
Obtain letters of intent and arrange financing
Create specs and estimates.
Work with operations, finance, legal and other inside and outside resources as needed to obtain the sale
Follow through on sold energy performance contracting projects to ensure satisfactory completion.
Collaborate with other divisional Sales Teams as appropriate, to provide comprehensive Energy Efficiency Solutions.
Ensures smooth sales to operations turnover and monitors progress.
Assist in resolving installation, collections and other customer satisfaction issues as needed. Assist customers and potential customers with problems involving the use of company products and services and recommends suitable resolutions accordingly
Prepare accurate and thorough sales activity reports, forecast reports and expense tracking
Participate in civic and professional organizations, and sales department meetings, workshops and seminars.
Keep current on market business and product trends.
Continue to pursue in-depth product and service knowledge and acquire deeper selling, technical and financial skills.
Develop and deploy effective business development and account strategies.
Deepen and broaden the level of personal engagement at the C-level with qualified prospects in a form that encourages them to explore alternative construction and energy efficient models for meeting the facility-related needs; resolve issues; and meet goals
Degree or diploma in Engineering, Business Administration or related area of study
10+ years experience selling large capital solutions to “C” level prospects
Must have extensive experience selling large value solutions in the Energy Performance Contracting sector, energy management, building retrofit/renewal or renewable energy sectors
Consultative and collaborative sales approach
Experience selling solutions such as Building Automation Systems, HVAC Solutions, Energy Audits, Mechanical Retrofit and Renewable Energy Solutions is highly desirable
Strong understanding of financial models/structures is essential
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
