Our growing Mississauga client who is a leader in the design of automotive manufacturing machinery is looking for a Project Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years related experience.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

a) To ensure customer satisfaction in all aspects of the execution of a project.
b) To manage the design, manufacture, delivery, installation and commissioning of special purpose machines, systems, and line arrangements in accordance with customer requirements and to the information and specifications contained in the project work order.
c) To ensure that the integration of all mechanical, electrical, tooling, dies and all purchased items meets the work order specifications.
d) For all safety and environmental aspects of the design and manufacture of all equipment.
e) That all designs, drawings etc, conform to the company quality assurance standards
f) To complete the entire work within the defined budget and to the schedule outlined in the work order.
g) Assist with appropriate experiments and trials as instructed on projects identified as SR&ED.
h) Document and track SR&ED experimental data and trials as appropriate for future reference and review.
i) Support and comply with the company customer-centred Quality Management Program.


FUNCTIONS:

a) Prioritise, distribute and organise the work performed by the Project Engineers, Group Leaders and Design Engineers, Manufacturing Manager and Purchasing Manager assigned to the project. This includes the quality of the work, the time taken to perform the tasks, and the cost effectiveness of the designs.
b) Arrange for, attend and actively participate in all meetings related to the project. These to include the work order and production meetings, client and supplier meetings and internal meetings as may be called.
c) Arrange for, and monitor project control documentation for the entire project. This to include but not be limited to, schedules, time spent, costs, purchase orders, drawings, BOM, specifications, design calculations, transmittals, progress reports, inspection reports, records of modifications made due to changes in engineering, manufacturing, installation and commissioning etc.
d) Arrange for the preparation of the layouts and calculations for both line and individual machine design utilising existing and new concepts.
e) Provide support to the needs of the design engineers in the completion of machine arrangements and details.
f) Arrange for the inspection and approval of all major proprietary items prior to their shipment from the supplier, or, if agreed, upon receipt of the goods in the Metform plant.
g) Arrange for the purchase and expediting of all major and long delivery items while ensuring conformance to budgets and schedules for the items involved and that competitive prices are received for evaluation.
h) Review equipment through manufacture to ensure that the equipment is being manufactured to specification and to report on areas that may be improved upon for future projects.
i) Provide information and support to the Service, Plant, Installation and Commissioning Managers as may be requested. Arrange for the installation and commissioning at the customer site including all necessary resources to complete the work.
j) Obtain customer approvals for equipment and line sign off acceptance documents.
k) Ensure that all invoicing to the customer is performed in accordance with the terms of the contract or purchase order.
l) Ensure that all aspects of the work order are undertaken in a professional manner and that all, or potential, variations to the contract are documented and agreed to by the customer prior to implementation.
m) Provide a leadership role to the both the project team and the customer personnel.
n) Be the prime contact with the customer and as such provide all information to the customer and the management team as required.



QUALIFICATIONS:

University degree or College diploma in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years experience in a related
machine design / manufacturing environment.
10 /15 years combined experience in project engineering and management on project with a value of
$5.0 million and preferably on projects outside Canada.
Be able to communicate effectively and write clear and concise reports.
Ability to work with other members of the team and provide leadership.
