Adecco is currently recruiting an Environmental Health Protection & Outbreak Manager for our public sector client in Ottawa, ON. This role is full time-permanent position.
Our client, based in Nepean area is looking for an Environmental Health Protection & Outbreak Manager to be member of the senior management staff Public Health team.

The Environmental Health Protection & Outbreak Manager provides leadership within a Health Department for environmental health protection and outbreak management; supports the activities of a teaching health unit, in addition, this individual must utilize sound financial and business planning in the input and any program development that support the implementation of all budgets, plans, services and process by always demonstrating a strong business sense.

The key duties for the Environmental Health Protection & Outbreak Manager are as follow:

-Develops, administers and monitors diverse programs for health protection and outbreak management inside the strategic parameters of policy directions of municipal, provincial or federal entities
-Appraises the efficacy of the different programs in place and the diverse range of components of these, calculating future trends and changes that may affect or target any group needs.
-Leases with provincial and federal government agencies to ensure effective exchange and flow of information regarding emerging environmental health protection and outbreak management issues;
-Collaborates in the collection for statistical information that can aid the future development of programs, which can help to identify needs and priorities for quality and standardized program delivery
-Partakes in the overall management of Health Department, while participating, representing and making presentations to the council in place about the different running/ future programs;
-Leads other related management activities, as well as professional activities that support the branch and the Heath Department; which includes forming strategic work relationships with community groups, medical and other related institutions;
-Cooperates and oversees the teachings of a health unit; by ensuring high quality of student experience and supporting continuing education of health professional
-Delivers guidance and a clear path in upholding the corporation¿s guiding principles including its policies, programs, procedures, standards and guidelines
-Maneuvers human resources management strategies that include forecasting staffing levels, the recruiting process, as well as other related on-boarding and performance disciplinary tasks.
-Manages different financial resources to safeguard the organization effectiveness; which includes Approving and monitoring budget requirements recommended by program staff; as well as reporting regularly to senior management on financial matters.
-Ensures the performance of all employees is carried out in accordance with applicable health and safety legislation, policies and procedures, in addition to any other procedures relevant to carry any task at the health department or the corporation itself.
-Must take the role of a public spoke person in order to explain and interpret any current and future programs to the media and special interest group, schools, boards and governmental entities.

The Environmental Health Protection & Outbreak Manager must meet the following mandatory requirements:

-University graduation in an appropriate discipline such as Business, Health Administration, Public Health Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a health discipline
-A minimum of eight years of experience at a managerial level in health program administration; and throughout knowledge of policies, programs and objectives of health protection and outbreak management
-Knowledge of principles and practices of community health and service administration, as well as regulations of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care
-Knowledge of principles and practices related to Infectious Diseases prevention and control
-In-depth knowledge of, and experience in local, provincial and national government, as well as business processes and decision-making, political sensitivity and accountability principles related to governments
-Experience in Translating the organization's vision, mission and goals into clear and effective strategic and operational policies, plans, programs and services
-Experience in Analyzing complex policy issues and makes complicated branch/division-wide business decisions and ensures linkages to the short and long term direction/sustainability of the organization with a broad understanding of corporate inputs and impacts
-Experience in Planning effectively for and manages change by shifting priorities and adapting to changes to meet organizational and program requirements
-Experience with delivering results, while engaging employees and keeping them motivated with the projects in place.
-Certificate of Public Health Inspection (Canada) an asset
-Master's degree an asset
-Proficiency in French language an asset
