Adecco is currently hiring for a permanent, full-time Group Underwriting Manager job in Edmonton, AB. The Group Underwriting Manager position will require the incumbent to possess post-secondary degree in Commerce or Mathematics, a recognized accounting designation, actuarial or similar education background. Our client is offering a competitive base salary plus benefits and will reimburse costs for relocation.

Group Underwriting Manager Responsibilities:

*Promote an understanding of the underwriting process within the Marketing and Sales departments. Ensure adequate supporting information regarding renewal rate increases, benefit changes and changes in underwriting limits are available on a timely basis.

*Provide leadership to the Group Underwriting employees by facilitating the development of an effective and committed team, assisting with individual skill development and ensuring the underwriting function is carried out in a responsive manner that reflects Blue Cross service standards.

*Ensure employees receive any guidance and training necessary

*Determine the impact of changes in the underwriting function on other departments.

*Recommend and implement underwriting policies and procedures to increase productivity, provide high levels of service and reduce expenses.

*Participate in strategic and operational planning on corporate and departmental levels. Attend required meetings as an active and contributing member.

*Handle issues within the department including, but not limited to, staffing, promotions and performance management.

*Oversee the setting of rates and underwriting limits for prospective new groups to ensure adherence to sound underwriting principles.

Skills and Qualifications:

*An excellent and proven leader with the ability to motivate and provide direction to the Underwriting team.

*Self-motivated and excellent computer, communication and strong analytical skills.

*Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with peers, superiors and co-workers.

*Ability to plan, organize and follow up with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

*Significant experience in group Health, Life, and Disability insurance is preferred.

*Completion of post-secondary degree in Commerce or Mathematics, a recognized accounting designation, actuarial or similar education background would be a considerable asset.
