A Numbering Machine Mechanic / Ink Technician job is currently available in Brampton, Ontario. The selected candidate will, ideally have
3 – 5 years experience . As well 8 week course at Sun Chemical Laboratory – Ink Mixing, U.V. This is a great opportunity for to work for a solid reputable company in Brampton.

Responsibilities of the Numbering Machine Mechanic / Ink Technician include:






The purpose of this position is to promptly supply numbering machines to press and collating departments. To ensure that machines are maintained in excellent working order, and to perform necessary repairs to numbering machines. To prepare special ink mixes for orders and to check to ensure colour matches to the Pantone Guide Book and form samples.





Prepare numbering machines for Press and Collating departments as specified on requisitions.
1. Ensure numbering machines are the correct configuration.
2. Examine numbering wheels with magnifying glass, to check and make sure wheels are in good running order.

Provide cleaning, maintenance and repairs to numbering machines on a daily basis.
1. Trouble shoot and repair numbering machines
2. Monitor inventory levels of various numbering machines parts and wheels. Up to $3 million of inventory
3. Requisitioning of numbering machine and check quality of ordered parts.

Sharpening of all rotary perfs and slitters for press department. Maintain and dress OSI grinder stone. Provide cleaning and maintenance to grinder. Report any problems to supervisor pertaining to grinder

Produce and formulate various inks for press department and inventory of standard inks on a daily basis.

Cross train press assistants and/or back up staff in ink mixing and basic numbering machine adjustments

Preparing ink draw-downs for each ink mix and retaining of ink samples. Monitor colour consistency. Monitor ink usage, ordering blending inks from Sun Chemical.

Weekly inventory of all press supplies and chemicals. Re-stocking supplies. Inform press office when supplies are low. Take part in clean up in supplies cage.

 Ordering of all inks required (any mixes under 4 kilo – done in house)
 Ordering all replacement parts for numbering machines
 Maintain press room inventory levels of all supplies


Qualifications of theNumbering Machine Mechanic / Ink Technician:

 Technical knowledge of numbering machines
 Ability to read and utilize technical manuals
 Mechanical aptitude
 Technical knowledge of ink matching process
 Ability to estimate volume of inks required from sample of ink coverage supplied
 Ability to relate well to others
 Ability to troubleshoot, colour match problems with standard, heat resistant and U.V. inks (Pigment strength can vary from shipment to shipment)
 Ability to adjust inks for tack & viscosity levels (varied equipment requires different tack and viscosity levels)
 Intricate knowledge of numbering machines, parts and usages (hundreds of variations)
