A Platemaker job is currently available in Brampton, Ontario. The selected candidate will, ideally have a (Lithographic and Flexographic) - QC - film and plate checker to be considered for this Platemaker role, as well a minimum 3 years of relevant experience. This is a great opportunity for to work for a solid reputable company in Brampton. This is a permanent position.

Responsibilities of the Platemaker include:

The primary purpose of this position is to produce lithographic and flexographic printing plates by exposing the plate material to light through a photographic negative. The incumbent is also required to provide carbon plates for mailer orders and the carbon department. In addition, the operator is required to perform quality checks on all negatives and plates that have been prepared.

Read and interpret docket instructions. Ensure that plate planning on reverse of docket matches the number of plates required to produce the order.
Operate the CTP equipment for Litho & flexo plates.
Perform tests to determine time required for exposure by exposing test plate and compares exposure to scale which measures tone ranges. The operator must also clean and maintain the equipment.
Check negatives and plates, referring to copy ensuring correct print, and plate gap clearance.
Proofread all copy changes.
Filing of all flexo plates, and uncrating all new material.
Bending plates for the pressroom.
Meeting production deadlines.
Operate the Misomex, Nu-Arc and Flexographic platemaking equipment. Position negative and plate on platemaking equipment to have plates exposed to artificial light through photographic negative thus transferring the image

Qualifications of the Platemaker:

-Three to five years of working experience. It would also be beneficial for an operator to have taken a Graphic Arts course
-Solid communication skills
-Great math knowledge
-Ability to Multi-task (operation of 3 platemaking machines as well as Quality Control)
-Knowledge of Print Production
-Knowledge of plateroom chemicals
