Category Specialist - Contract

OVERVIEW (Category Specialist)

Reporting to the Category Portfolio Manager, the Category Specialist will be responsible for the consistent and disciplined execution of the category management process including: supporting the product strategic governance reporting process, assisting in the management of the entire lifecycle of product SKU?s in the product portfolio and assisting in the development of the long term strategic roadmap for the key portfolios in order to drive alignment among the key stakeholders to deliver the most value for our customers, distributors, associates and organization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (Category Specialist)

- Responsible for project and timeline management for all marketing initiatives in the portfolio
- Participate in development and execution of specific marketing initiatives and plans with regular progress tracking and reporting
- Analyze key markets, competitors, business results, product line performance and SKU rationalization
- Provide ongoing support including preparation and execution of competitive tracking and expense management
- Coordinate meeting agendas, meeting minutes and participation on cross functional teams
- Support relationships with various suppliers (advertising, trade shows, collateral printing, labels, etc.)
- Develop agency briefs to outline expectations and requirements for creative materials
- Steward Internal Red Folder approval process for marketing collateral
- Participate in projects to improve overall Marketing department processes and capabilities
- Assist in the execution of Trade Shows, Customer Testimonials, Product Test Sites and Cost Savings Models. Managing, tracking and reporting progress from initiation through to field execution
- Management of competitive benchmarking studies including preparation, tracking and progress reporting
- Management of marketing material updates including TechDatas, TechBulletins, Sell Sheets, Web Pages
- Initiate Product Line Changes (PLC?s) and execution of SKU deletions
- Responsible for business results analysis and reporting
- Conduct competitive analysis and the preparation of Share of Market reports
- Track and report competitive products, pricing, advertising and sales collateral
- Execute the budget tracking process including regular input and updates to the Budget Control Report (BCR) and forecast
- Support product strategies in day to day work

QUALIFICATIONS (Category Specialist)

- University degree required
- Experience in a marketing role
- Strong marketing skills
- Project Management skills
- Analytical skills and problem solving skills
- Strategic thinking; ability to handle strategic initiatives
- Strong customer focus / Brand building orientation
- Organized, effective time management skills
- The ability to take technical information and translate it into terms that our existing and potential customers will easily understand
- The ability to take the lead on many items without direct supervision/direction from the Category Portfolio Manager
- Strong computer skills (SAP, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, MS Project etc.)
- Strong communications skills (delivering presentations, listening and writing)
- Demonstrated Non-Authoritative Leadership (NAL) skills

- Comfortable with making recommendations based on both facts and judgment
