Adecco’s client, a world-class provider of precision instrumentation, network technology and software applications, is presently searching for a junior Systems Engineer to join its team. The Systems Engineer will work as part of a team to design, implement, and test custom and semi-custom systems. The selected candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering program combined with one year of work experience (including co-op experience, if applicable). The selected candidate must be available to travel 50% of the time to client locations globally; client locations are often in remote areas.

Responsibilities of a Systems Engineer Include:

• Design semi-custom systems and complete installations at customer sites
• Project management of installation projects from inception to completion
• Write requirements, specifications and design documents
• Source and integrate custom third-party products
• Train customers in maintaining and operating our equipment and systems
• Generate manufacturing and test documentation
• Support sales team when required
• Overseas travel is a requirement of the job. Each project requires one or more trips to the field for installation or training. There are typically four to six trips per year, and the majority of trips are less than two weeks in duration.

Requirements Include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering discipline is required.
• At minimum one year of related Engineering experience, including experience gained from co-op placements if applicable
• Scientific background, especially geophysics and seismology, is an asset
• Knowledge of fundamentals of digital communications and network protocols is an asset
• Knowledge of GPS systems, Satellite IP networks, Cellular communications is an asset
• Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing techniques is an asset
• Programming experience with Java, C++, Ruby On Rails and Shell scripts is an asset
• Flexibility to travel 50% of the time to locations that are often remote is a must
• Strong communication, presentation and customer support skills will be essential
• Highly creative and innovative thinking with strong decision making and judgement
• Ability to work effectively within a team
• Results focused with strong planning and organizing skills
• High level of ethics and integrity
