Canada’s Largest Staffing Firm Hires ‘An Intern CEO’ and The Winner Will Represent Adecco Canada on a Global Level

  • This year’s winner, Frances Doria, will spend one month under the mentorship of Gilbert Boileau, President of Adecco Canada
  • A record 3,580 candidates applied for this unique opportunity to step into the shoes of a Canadian business leader

Toronto, ON, May 28, 2019 – The Adecco Group Canada has chosen the Canadian participant of its third ‘CEO for One Month’ initiative, which is designed to help talent increase their employability and career prospects.

Frances was chosen from a talented group of students and young professionals in Canada to be the country’s ‘CEO for One Month’. Frances is a graduate of both McGill University and Hult International Business School and is currently spearheading her own consulting business. She is one of 46 other ‘CEO for One Month’ participants appointed across the world and will spend the month shadowing Adecco Canada’s leadership team, gaining a unique insight into the organization’s country and group operations. Frances will gain experience in HR, management, finance, marketing and public speaking. She will then have the chance to take part in a worldwide selection process to become the global ‘CEO for One Month’, working alongside The Adecco Group CEO Alain Dehaze.

The Adecco Group received a record 3,580 applications in Canada for ‘CEO for One Month’, before narrowing it down to a final group of three who then did a virtual bootcamp. After which they were interviewed by Gilbert Boileau, President, Adecco Canada, and by the selections committee who then chose the winning candidate.

Frances Doria said:

“I am beyond grateful to be selected for this opportunity! I am ready to take on this experience as my training ground for my own leadership journey. I have been extremely privileged in my early career to gain extensive experience in meeting and negotiating with dozens of multinational CEOs throughout Europe, Latin America and Asia. Now, I am excited to learn from the vantage point of the power seat itself, and truly understand how a CEO navigates, pivots and prioritizes on a daily basis. I look forward to being challenged, transformed and be pushed to my potential so I may one day be the best leader I can be.”

Commenting on the program, Gilbert Boileau, Adecco Canada’s CEO, said:

“The CEO for One Month program highlights the Adecco’s aim to provide young people with real-world opportunities and help them thrive through the power of work. The invaluable insights gained from such an experience cannot be taught at school or shared in university lectures. It is an ideal launching pad for personal and professional development.”

‘CEO for One Month’ Program

The ‘CEO for One Month’ program began as a local initiative in Norway in 2011 and was formalized in to a global program in 2014, since growing into a flagship initiative for the Adecco Group under the Adecco Group Foundation. It helps young people increase their employability and career prospects through highly effective, work-based learning inside a Fortune 500 company. The program operates under the Adecco Group Foundation which aims to improve work readiness of young people and other underserved populations who struggle to enter the workforce.

Global applications were more than 204,000; with a record 3,580 coming from Canada.
