Our history

Long story short, we've got more than 50 years' experience in the staffing game. In that time, we've merged, acquired and grown our way to becoming the global staffing leader. The name "Adecco" itself actually came about back in 1996 when two of the world's top staffing firms, Adia and Ecco, merged. And while we appreciate our history, we're much more focused on the future—ours and yours.

Our leadership

Some companies have head honchos. Top dogs. Or big cheeses. Nothing against cheeses or dogs or honchos (whatever they are), but our leaders are really just hard-working, passionate people. Many even started out as recruiters, rolled their sleeves up and worked their way to the top. Here's your chance to learn a bit about them.

Gilbert Boileau, President



Gilbert was appointed as Adecco’s President in 2017, following a successful two-year stint as our Regional VP for Québec. He has over 25 years’ experience in the staffing and consulting industries, in a variety of sales and executive leadership roles. He is recognized for his ability to create, support and leverage key business initiatives, and has a passion for growing business that is equal to that of the most driven entrepreneurs. Prior to joining Adecco in 2015, Gilbert held leadership roles with major companies in which: he grew regional offices that became the dominant player in their respective market; acquired, integrated and managed various staffing companies across Canada and the US; and, built and managed successful sales and delivery teams in various markets. He has a degree in mechanical engineering from Université de Sherbrooke.

Joanne Stewart, VP, Sales & Marketing



Joanne became an associate in 1989, assigned to a temp position with a crown corporation. It was the auspicious beginning of a long-term career with Adecco. In 1998, she became a permanent employee and was assigned to the first of several management positions with increasing scope and authority. She now leads the team responsible for nurturing client relationships, business development, sales, account management, marketing, recruitment, branding, and, digital content and social media. Joanne has a MDPW (Management Development Program for Women) certificate from the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University.

Jackie Burrows, VP, Ontario & Atlantic Region



Jackie oversees business development, sales and operations for 17 branches across Ontario and the Atlantic provinces. Over her 20+ years with Adecco, Jackie has grown with the company, taking on diverse positions of increasing responsibility and scope. She is a highly skilled team leader with an enviable track record in implementing new programs, policies and procedures. In 2014, Jackie represented Canada in the Adecco Group’s Win4Youth cycling event, climbing the formidable Col du Tourmalet in France. Jackie joined Adecco in 1994. She has a BA from Carleton University.

Doug Hamlyn, VP, Finance



Doug has 20 years of accounting and finance leadership in the staffing industry. His portfolio includes accounting and finance, health and safety, and, real estate. Compliance, business controls, process improvement, and client support are his priorities for both Adecco and Roevin, our engineering and IT brand. Under his adept finance leadership, Adecco Canada has enjoyed a market leadership position of growth in sales and profitability. Doug is a Chartered Professional Accountant, has an MBA from Schulich School of Business and a B.Eng from Memorial University. He joined Adecco in 2005.

Nicolette Mueller, VP, Human Resources & Legal



Nicolette, who specializes in employment law, skillfully manages three roles with our company: in-house counsel, HR team leader, and Privacy Officer. She is responsible for ensuring best practices in HR and representing Adecco in legal matters. She also conducts harassment and discrimination investigations, and advocates on behalf of the staffing industry regarding various legislative proposals. Before joining Adecco in 2005, Nicolette practiced in a top-tier law firm. She has a BA from the University of Western Ontario and a law degree from the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1996.

Tracy Rocca, VP, On-site Managed Services



Tracy has over two decades’ experience in recruitment, staffing and consulting. She has worked in various aspects of our business in branch offices and at the corporate level. Her extensive experience includes supporting clients across many industries. She excels at managing large complex accounts and implementing strategies that deliver valuable ROI (return on investment) to our clients. In her VP role, Tracy is known for building internal and external relationships that create a win/win for everyone involved. Tracy has won many awards for her work.
