Accounting Clerk (Must have auto-dealership experience)

Adecco is currently recruiting for an Accounting Clerk for a Permanent opportunity with our client in Ottawa, ON. The successful candidate must be comfortable working 100% from site. The client has appropriate COVID protocols in place.

Overtime is required during month end to meet a 5-day business close.

The Accounting Clerk will have the following responsibilities:

  • Reconcile, review & post new, used, wholesale and dealer trade car deals.
  • Work with Sales and F&I department to resolve car deal issue and discrepancies.
  • Ensure that all necessary documents are included in each deal.
  • Ensure all motor vehicle paperwork is processed accurately.
  • Ensure proper billing of wholesale units and follow-up on wholesale paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with all government regulations.
  • Maintain car deal receipt and entry log.
  • Maintain car deal count (Deals received, posted, unposted).
  • Prepare SAAQ cheques.
  • Stock in New vehicles via posting of manufacturing invoices.
  • Stock in Dealer traded vehicles.
  • Provide list of floor plan payoffs and units to be chattled.
  • Prepare related Adjusting JEs.
  • Update Daily Deal Entry Metrics.
  • Track commissions for Sales and F&I as deals are entered including chargebacks.
  • Maintain deal and audit folders.
  • Co-ordinate month-end close with sales managers to ensure proper cut-off and all deals entered.
  • Prepare monthly summary by brand of deals booked, sales, and gross profit.
  • Reconciliation of sales accounts to deal summary.
  • Prepare the Statistics manufacturing postings.
  • Communicate with GM’s for tracking of commissions and bonuses.
  • Assist in preparation of month end and year end reports and other accounting duties as required.
  • Various other office duties consistent with this position.
  • Attend off-site inventory counts and reconciliations once per month.
  • The Accounting Clerk must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/business/finance preferred
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a deal clerk or accounting role in a dealership
  • Driver’s License required (to conduct monthly inventory counts)
  • Detail oriented skills with strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and with a team
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Thrives under pressure as this position is all about completing tasks accurately and on time
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced high-volume environment
