Adecco is currently hiring for an Associate Scientist for our Medical Manufacturing client in Ottawa West. This is an opportunity offering Full Time hours, Monday – Friday. The salary for this position will be determined based on education and experience.

The main purpose of this role is to support activities in the R&D test labs, programs, and deliverables.

Associate Scientist Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, developing and scheduling new experimental protocols, studies or operational processes.
  • Support activities of operators in the R&D Labs which may include resource allocations across programs
  • Coordinate and communicate between R&D Planning and each of the R&D operations areas, as well as with groups and departments outside of R&D.
  • Attend regular R&D project meetings to discuss needs and changes
  • Providing weekly updates to the program team
  • Interface with the technical team to address technical issues
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in the R&D labs including quality and capacity
  • Safeguard the environment and facilitate a safe and healthy workplace culture.  Understand and comply with applicable EHS policies, procedures, rules and regulations
  • Support maintaining the effectiveness of the Quality System.  Continuously challenge existing systems, processes and procedures to improve them.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as may be required.
  • Associate Scientist Requirements:

  • Undergraduate university Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related Scientific field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience required.

  • Proven technical, creative, teamwork and implementation skills to contribute to product and process development.

  •  Strong written and oral skills are required.

  • Ability to work both independently and within small and large teams.

  • Judgment and decision-making skills, organization, coordinating and planning skills, ability to work in a multi-task environment, good oral and written communication and the ability to work under pressure, propensity to continuous learning.

  • Experience with biochemical and microfluidic systems is an asset.  

  • Experience designing, executing and documenting experiments and studies is an asset.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
