Our well-known client in the Collingwood, ON area is looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their team to help manage, troubleshoot and maintain robots, PLC’s and automation systems within the facility.

The Role:

Responsible for supporting manufacturing processes, debugging, repairing, improving, installing of new or modified production and test equipment from the perspective of electrical, mechanical, PLC logistic and vision systems.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding of machine safety, (Safety Relays and Safety PLC’s) observes all safety rules and maintains an orderly workplace
  • Lead a team from project design to installation.
  • Give direction to others to complete the projects/tasks.
  • Modify older machine controls to meet current code requirements.
  • Troubleshoot machine breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize loss of production (excellent controls troubleshooting)
  • Work from wiring diagrams or oral instructions to wire or assemble equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and equipment. Must be capable of specifying and sourcing materials and equipment to best suit requirements.
  • Experience using ABB Robots in a manufacturing environment
  • PLC knowledge Allen Bradley, TI, and Schneider Modicon
  • Ability to work with Manufacturing Vision Systems
  • Respond to all breakdown related calls as quickly as possible
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives improving existing methods, systems and looking for better ways of approaching a problem
  • Compete all associated paperwork and make daily entries into computerized maintenance system of all work performed
  • Very good understanding of electrical drawing packages
  • Prepare technical documentation, user and maintenance manuals, setup procedures etc.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Qualifications & Experience:

  • A technical diploma or engineering degree (mechanical/electrical/software)
  • 2 -5 years’ experience in an automated manufacturing environment
  • Hands on technical skills with respect to robotics, PLC, electrical & mechanical engineering
  • Hours of Work – Night Shift – Wednesday to Sunday – however, there’s flexibility in determining work schedule for DAYS
