Adecco is currently recruiting for Business Analyst - Senior for a 2-year contract with our Crown Corporation Client located in Ottawa, ON. The successful candidate must hold a valid Reliability Security Clearance or be eligible for one.

The Business Analyst - Senior will have the following responsibilities:

  • Understands client organization's short and long-term direction and structure.
  • Produces Request for Information / Request for Proposal.
  • Makes recommendations based on client organization's industry and competitive position.
  • Works with the customer on an on-going basis to understand their business in technical terms, identify on-going product and system improvements, and recommends existing or customized solutions.
  • Present to, and work alongside, various levels of the client's organization.
  • Set up and maintain the requirements traceability matrix.
  • Works with the project manager, architects, and other team members to define metrics, performance goals and roadmap and provides recommendations for short and long-term strategies.
  • Participate in transitioning the requirements to the designers, and ensure a clear and complete understanding of the requirements.
  • Proactively identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies for the corporation as a whole.
  • Ability to create and analyze a company roadmap for a period of 1 to 5 years.
  • Process design and re-engineering, process mapping, etc. Gathering business requirements.
  • Elicit requirements through proper technique (e.g. client interviews, workgroup, etc.).
  • Assists clients with acceptance testing.
  • Assists clients in translating requirements into test conditions and expected results for user acceptance testing.
  • May help coordinate and plan Acceptance Test activities.

The Business Analyst - Senior must have experience in the following tasks:

  • Developing test cases
  • Developing functional designs or detailed user stories
  • Assisting the Product Owner (“PO”) where needed to help identify Business Rules, Acceptance Criteria, Success and Negative Path
  • Identifying the current and future-state business processes
  • Determining operational objectives by studying critical business functions (“CBFs”), gathering information, evaluating output requirements and formats
  • Providing continuous improvement services to improve existing business processes and inform the Business Solution Delivery leadership team of potential continuous improvement opportunities
  • Managing the process conformance and compliance as appropriate (e.g. PCI)
  • Recommending controls by identifying problems, writing improved procedures
  • Supporting change management activities
  • Preparing technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Assist with testing end-to-end solution within Sprint in a Scrum environment as appropriate
  • Identify risks and inform the Business Solution Delivery leadership team of potential mitigations
  • Contributing to the success of a range of small-to-medium initiatives with escalating levels of complexity and business criticality
  • Delivering functionality in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Excellent understanding of business context and mode of operations
  • Proven ability to identify, formalize, and problem solve business needs

The Business Analyst - Senior must have the following mandatory requirements:

  • university degree in business or information systems or equivalent experience or combination thereof
  • Experience in effectively interacting and communicating with business teams; can consolidate business requirements and translate them into IT deliverables
  • Familiar with business engineering system concepts and principles as well as complex modeling techniques, able to align business unit sub-processes to enterprise business processes and able to lead functional requirement walk through and quality reviews
  • Can identify the effectiveness and completeness of business and technology strategies and ensure alignment with IT and other applicable cross-organization strategies
  • Deep knowledge of business context and mode of operations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Mature perspective on architecture principles and frameworks
  • Understands principles of iterative development, and able to document business requirements as Agile user stories
  • Adaptable to change
