Adecco is currently looking for a Business Development Representative, a full-time permanent opportunity for one of our clients based in Ottawa, ON. The Business Development Representative will be assigned a geographical or vertical market and will be responsible for prospecting potential new clients in the assigned market, uncovering needs, and providing solutions and entering into service agreements with new clients.

The Business Development Representative will have the following responsibilities:

  • Researching, cold calling and setting up meetings with potential clients;
  • Identify and solicit potential clients for future service work;
  • Meet with and develop relationships with potential clients;
  • Assess potential client needs and resources and recommend the appropriate solution;
  • Identify and solicit potential clients for future service work;
  • Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to potential clients;
  • Prepare sales agreements under the direction of the Sales Team;
  • Keep internal software and database up to date with sales activities;
  • Price agreements according to the Company pricing standards;
  • Build detailed cost estimate and scope of work in conjunction with operations and sales staff;
  • Prepare start-up documents for set up and attend start-up meetings with new clients;
  • Provide technical, process or estimating support during project design or proposal phase;
  • Participate in meetings with Operations and Sales to ensure project scope and objectives, timeline and customer requirements are properly understood;
  • Assist as needed in developing the customer business case for project solution;
  • Perform on-site data collection at customer facilities required to perform detailed estimates;
  • Work with Project Representatives;
  • Assist in technical or financial benchmarking as needed.

The Business Development Representative should demonstrate:

  • Degree/diploma in business, engineering or a related field;
  • 1-3 years’ experience in sales and preparing proposals or contracts;
  • Brilliant interpersonal, spoken and written communication skills;
  • Determination, results and change oriented personality;
  • Proficient in MS Office - Word and Excel;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Experience working in the trades is considered an asset;
  • Technical knowledge or training including HVAC, mechanical or facilities is considered an asset;
  • Available to travel on occasion as require.
