Adecco is currently hiring a permanent, full-time Buyer in Markham, ON to work for our client, a leading Canadian manufacturer. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating efforts with the ERP system and warehouse personnel in order to maintain the appropriate levels of inventory. If you have previous experience purchasing goods and services at a favorable price, as well as building strategic relationships with key suppliers, this job is for you!

  • Responsibilities:

  • Procure goods, materials and services for the organization in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Research and survey buying markets in order to source the most optimal suppliers
  • Use the ERP system to review material requirements and update material related information
  • Manage performance of vendors and suppliers to ensure the needs of the organization are being met
  • Handle shipping arrangements and arrange for customs processing when required
  • Remain abreast of pricing trends, restrictions, material lead time or any other variables that could affect purchasing
  • Work with suppliers or vendors to investigate and resolve billing end or shipping discrepancies using diplomacy and tact
  • Negotiate return of items to vendors and coordinate subsequent credits refunds or replacements
  • Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma in materials management, purchasing, or business administration
  • Working knowledge of ERP/ MRP systems, Microsoft Office and purchasing / contracting techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of laws ordinances and regulations pertaining to industry purchasing practices
  • Excellent people management, communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondences, contracts, requests, bids and other documentation
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Experience in purchasing electronic components /materials is an asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
