Adecco is currently hiring for a temporary, full-time Buyer, for our client a leading and well-established company majoring in electronics located in Toronto, ON. To qualify for this role, you must have basic knowledge of production planning fundamentals, scheduling, materials requirements planning techniques and manufacturing control systems.

  • Pay Rate: $35/hour
  • Location: Toronto, ON
  • Hours: Monday to Friday | Flexible 8-hour shifts in between 7 AM- 9 PM
  • Job type: Full-time | Temporary
  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan for and procures materials necessary to meet manufacturing build requirements for one or several product lines
  • Review forecasted requirements and purchases materials in accordance with the forecast
  • Ensure materials are available to meet manufacturing build requirements
  • Match material requirements and inventory turnover
  • Qualify new suppliers through survey and site visits
  • Help establish new supplier accounts with finance department
  • Work with internal customers to address, return and receive credit for defective materials
  • Work with A/P to investigate and resolve issues with payment of supplier invoices
  • Plan and schedule timely material requirements for customer forecasts
  • Review manufacturing production goals and plans accordingly
  • Analyze inputs (e.g., capacity, board cycle times, urgency of request, material availability, etc.) to help determine schedule
  • Analyze internal impact (e.g., line scheduling, procurement, logistics, shipping, etc.) of customer scheduling
  • Push or cancel orders per production plans
  • Ensure quality and integrity of information used to generate materials requirements plan
  • Revise plans as required based on analysis of actuals versus plan
  • Act as a customer liaison with new product introduction
  • Introduce the new product through manufacturing to shipping per customer requirements
  • Attend weekly change meetings with the customer
  • Review and submit new cost associated with new engineering requirements
  • Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in New Product Introduction phase - NPI procurement experience, SAP is preferred
  • Knowledge of an electronic manufacturing environment, the types of materials being purchased by the department and the engineering change process
  • Basic knowledge of production planning fundamentals, scheduling, materials requirements planning techniques and manufacturing control systems  
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, inventory management and supplier management
  • Good computer skills and proficient in WORD, Excel, PowerPoint and multiple business applications
  • Good negotiation and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to plan strategically for the coordinated delivery of a variety of materials and handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers
