Adecco is currently seeking an experienced Buyer Senior Raw Materials to join our clients dynamic team in St. Thomas, ON. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in our supply chain by researching and analyzing raw material markets for high voltage batteries. Your expertise in raw materials such as Lithium, Nickel, and Cobalt, coupled with your industry knowledge, will enable you to drive strategic sourcing decisions and contribute to the success of our cutting-edge projects.

Detailed Job Description:

  • Research and analyze raw material markets and pricing mechanisms for high voltage batteries, focusing on Lithium, Nickel, Cobalt, etc., in North America.

  • Monitor market trends, cost fluctuations, and technological developments affecting raw material purchasing costs.

  • Identify and engage potential suppliers, building and maintaining relationships within the raw material sector.

  • Collaborate with Group Component Purchasing in Wolfsburg to align purchasing strategies.

  • Participate in exploratory talks and support negotiations with suppliers.

  • Present negotiation outcomes to sourcing committees.

  • Collaborate cross-divisionally with Group Strategy, R&D, and Sustainability departments for strategic concept development.

  • Coordinate contact with local suppliers.

  • Proactively identify and manage potential supply bottlenecks.

  • Contribute to the finalization of long-term contracts with raw material suppliers.

Candidate's Profile:

  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.

  • International mindset with an interest in global work and diverse teams.

  • MUST have experience in lithium-ion battery manufacturing

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Economics, or related field; or equivalent relevant work experience.

  • 7+ years of professional experience in the mining industry.

  • Expert knowledge of raw materials for high voltage batteries and upstream battery production processes.

  • Proven ability to work in a process-driven environment with tight timelines.

  • Collaborative, passionate, and driven to lead transformational change.

  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.

  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational abilities.

  • Flexibility for business travel and working across time zones (up to 20% travel).

  • Ability to maintain flexible work hours to accommodate European time zone differences.

  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
