Adecco is currently recruiting for a Buyer for a permanent opportunity with our client in St. Catharines, ON. The Buyer will procure items for various departments and teams and liaise with suppliers to negotiate prices. The Buyer will also ensure that material supply is uninterrupted through inventory control, ordering procedures and maintaining delivery schedules. The Buyer will also create and track orders, complete records, count material/items and enter data.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Analyze market trends and apply knowledge gained to make an insightful buying decision(s)
Assess the quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management
Execute cycle count program and other inventory management programs
Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous and business improvement
Maintain records, calculate, reconcile, track purchase and supply orders, stay current with delivery schedules, actively followup on backorders
Assemble and pack/store goods and products for distribution and use
Maintain, clean, organize the warehouse and assist with storage control
Requirements:
Required knowledge/experience:
College diploma required, bachelor's degree is preferred majoring in business administration is a definite asset and/or equivalent specific industry-related work experience
At least three years of buying experience is required, electrical product and pairing knowledge is a definite asset/advantage
Due to the periodic on-site job site requirement(s), the incumbent must hold a valid G driver's licence in Ontario and maintain a clean driving record
Possess well-developed analytical, decision and critical thinking skills and is detail oriented
Able to problem solve, work independently, and meet deadlines by managing work volume, tasks, and time efficiently and is flexible in work approach
Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Suite and Google and its interface and the ability to quickly learn software programs is a definite asset
Possess a valid Lift Truck License and Working at Heights Certification is a definite advantage, as is prior experience using tie-downs to secure loads
Thorough knowledge of electrical products and prior data entry work experience is advantageous
