Adecco is currently hiring a temporary full-time Buyer / Planner for our client in Scarborough, ON. In this role you will strategically source and award business to ensure delivery of on time, high quality and cost-effective options for the team. The Buyer/Planner will work closely with the vendor base and internal production staff to ensure jobs ship on time all while holding vendors to the highest quality and pricing standards. Shifts: Monday to Friday | 8:00am – 5:00pm

Detailed list of Responsibilities:
Responsible for quoting and awarding business for both large scale and smaller projects in a fast-paced work environment – ensuring multiple quotes are gathered, documented, and analyzed prior to business award
Work closely with production to review weekly schedule, capacity vs workload plan and seasonal spikes.
Prepare vendor capacity analysis as required to help build level load plans.
Works with purchasing team to qualify and grow existing vendor base to support a fast-growing buying portfolio
Responsible to assess forecasted demand, and monitor raw material stock levels to ensure continuous flow of finished good products into the company
Work with Purchasing Manager to pre-negotiate vendor pricing (rate card implementation), reserve vendor capacity and build long term strategic partnerships via service level agreements.
Follow up on awarded business – works with vendor to ensure on time delivery of product for the company’s production and ship date requirements
Supports the purchasing team with supplier benchmarking reports, on time delivery reports and assists in maintaining an up-to-date Purchase Order database.
Schedules and expedites materials pertaining to pending production jobs– flags jobs that are high risk, or potentially trending late. Finds creative solutions to maintain on time delivery while ensuring business margins remain unaffected
Interfaces with Vendors, Materials Planning group, Production, Project Management and Finance Staff
Maintains accurate Vendor, Item, and Inventory databases
Meets and interviews with Vendor representatives to keep abreast of developments, market trends, negotiate prices, service, quality and etc
Participates in supplier qualification and certification processes and be a driver of continuous improvement in all procurement activities
Develops and assists in managing Vendor Partnerships in order to secure both short- and long-term supply
Ensures pricing is in line with budgetary cost estimates; escalates issues of scope creep prior to business award and material delivery
Works closely with A/P, receiving team and vendor base to assist in resolving invoicing issues
Supports continuous improvement initiatives.
Participates in special projects and assignments as required.
Requirements:
Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
University degree in Business Admin, Engineering or Supply Chain Management; preferred.
Direct industry experience is preferred.
Preference given to candidates with previous experience in multi-commodity purchasing
Knowledge of commodity indices
