Adecco is currently looking for a Category Assistant in North York, ON. Our client is Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer and they require a subject expert to assist with the general administration and management of categories and suppliers. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity working Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm with a pay rate of $21/hr + 4% vacation pay.

Category Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the data for the flyers and all supporting documents, data retrieval and analysis for planograms, reviews and supplier meetings
  • Enter, maintain and monitor all critical information including key sales and financial data to prepare and analyze weekly sales reports
  • Complete all required forms including product information form and vendor profile form to ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate
  • Enter, maintain and monitor all critical products listing information to ensure details are accurate and updated as necessary
  • Prepare and submit worksheets for flyers, various merchandising plans and seasonal spreadsheets to include accurate estimates, sales, deal and retail information
  • Proof and edit flyer and other seasonal marketing initiatives to ensure accuracy and make adjustments as required
  • Provide support to Marketing Call Centre to resolve issues or concerns in a timely and efficient manner
  • Prepare and distribute communications for stores to ensure category information or updates are provided in a timely manner
  • Monitor and liaise with relevant departments including, Planogram, Logistics, Inventory and Promotions to resolve issues or concerns in an efficient and timely manner
  • Gather and compile data/info from multiple vendors to prepare worksheets for submission for all seasonal/food programs
Category Assistant Qualifications:
  • Advanced level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects
  • Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are required in dealing with colleagues in every day working relationships
  • Require an understanding of interrelated work processes to be able to adapt to differing assignments
  • Provide routine information to coordinate the assignments and work procedures of others
  • Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with vendors and colleagues including senior management
  • Draw on a number of known options to solve problems and to develop improvements
  • Computer skills to produce effective spreadsheets, reports, documents, and presentations, as required
  • Database management
  • Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions
  • Able to work with diverse personalities and styles
  • Communicate with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone
  • Communicate well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proofreading is required
  • Knowledge of category management and merchandising practices and principles
