Our client has their Canadian operation based west of London, Ontario, and presents a unique and exciting opportunity exists to join their company. With considerable capital investment made to allow for the expansion of the company’s processing operations, there is a need for a Sales / Applications Chemical Engineer engineer to their team and assist in their manufacturing process.  Specifically, this role will be a major contributor to the company’s overall profitability and growth, be highly visible and technical in nature, and will be providing critical inputs to R&D while also supporting manufacturing.  This role will work intimately with the plant’s production equipment and the metallurgical process, and this engineer will be involved in team-based problem-solving issues related to manufacturing and quality.

- Chemical, Materials or Metallurgical Engineering degree (Graduate level - ideally).
- Materials processing experience (metal powders/similar type materials).
- Capable in cultivating professional working relationships at all levels.
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Be results driven and possess good analytical skills.
- Experience collaborating with various departments and across different geographical /cultural environment.


- Production: Assist with commissioning of new equipment and product lines, advise production group on any quality/technical issues they are having, perform capacity/throughput calculations for equipment and, design and coordinate production trials.
- Laboratory: Set up Laboratory experiments for customer supplied samples, retain any customer samples and label for easy identification, coordinate with global laboratory network to test new products, perform blend and dopant calculations.
- Quality: Review quality of standard grades and advise Production on any improvements/trends, generate internal specifications for new products and review customer specifications and determine their feasibility.
- Inventory control: Provide direction for slow moving materials and advise production on use of slow-moving materials.
- Supply Chain Management:  In conjunction with SCM, coordinate shipping/receiving of customer samples, and notify SCM of new products under development for material code generation.
- Supporting sales: The role will require travelling which may comprise of up to 25 %. This important aspect of the role includes regular meetings with customers in both Canada and the United States to form strategic alliances. Close cooperation with key customers is critical to gain an in depth understanding of their current and future applications.
- Product development: Continues product development/improving of existing products is an important aspect of the role.
