Adecco is currently hiring for a permanent Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for our Automotive Client located in Ottawa, On. The ideal candidate for this position will be someone with a mature personality and sound judgement skills, who acts in a professional and ethical manner at all times. To be considered for the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you must have a University Degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position. As well, to be considered, you must have 3-5 years experience in automotive dealership industry and advanced proficiency with accounting software Reynolds & Reynolds, Simply Accounting.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Primary Focus:


Reporting to and partnering with the President, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a critical role in developing and implementing the financial strategy of the company. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will be an advisor to the General Managers, evaluating and assisting them with their financial plans and economic modelling. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization which is comprised of 3 Automotive Dealerships, A leasing portfolio and various holding companies. The CFO is responsible to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Accounting and Payroll departments (11 staff – 6 Direct reports, 4 indirect).


Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Job Duties:


• Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, and conservation of assets.
• Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
• Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance.
• Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
• Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
• Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
• Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts. • Interact with Senior Management, including General Managers and Directors, to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
• Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards.
• Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems. • Assist in obtaining the necessary licenses and insurance required to start a business.
• Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
• Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
• Schedules and assures timely completion of Monthly, Quarterly and Year End Financial closings and statements.
• Coordinates annual audits and works cooperatively with external auditors.
• Assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and the company's long-term strategy.
• Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the President and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
• Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas, and selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisors).
• Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with the company's strategic plan.
• Manage cash flow and forecasting.
• Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
• Optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions.
• Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally.
• Recruit, train and evaluate Accounting department staff.
• Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software.
• Oversee the payroll administrator and applicable staff ensuring payroll is processed in accordance with legislation and company policies, contracts and compensation agreements.
• Partner with the Manager of Information Technology (IT) to procure specialized finance IT systems that meet the needs of the organization.
• Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems in conjunction with IT Manager
• Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company.
• Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate employer-employee legal compliance.
• Develop policies and procedures and as needed work in conjunction with applicable departments.
• Represent the company externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, and the general public.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures of the company.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation (i.e., International Financial Reporting Standards, Retail Sales Act, Income Tax Act, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, etc.)
• Performs other responsibilities as necessary and as assigned.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Qualifications & Requirements:


• University Degree in Finance or Accounting
• Accounting Designation (CA, CGA, CPA, CMA) in good standing
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position
• Previous automotive dealership experience; 3-5 years
• Advanced proficiency with accounting software (Reynolds & Reynolds, Simply Accounting)
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office; especially Excel
• Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, IFRS, federal and provincial financial regulations
• A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills • Demonstrated leadership ability, confident and executive presence; ability to motivate staff

• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
