Adecco is currently recruiting for a full-time Contracts Advisor in Calgary, AB, to work a long-term contract at a well-established energy company majoring in the production of synthetic crude from oil sands. In this diverse role, you will be part of a multifaceted team working closely with internal and external stakeholders with responsibility for the administration and analysis of contracts for the Land team.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal business partners including operations, joint interest, finance, legal and production accounting
  • Work with the Mineral Land Negotiator and asset teams and manage contractual obligations, interpretations as well as drafting
  • Use your experience with CS Land to ensure proficient data entry and maintenance following data consistency standards and data verification as well as create, build and run reports
  • Collaborate with the Mineral Land Negotiator and asset teams to review and respond to third-party Rights of First Refusals (ROFRs) as well as prepare and manage operated ROFRs
  • Prepare, process and track operated and non-operated Independent Operations Notices (IONs) with an in-depth understanding of penalty concepts and issues
  • Work with stakeholders and manage the operated and non-operated abandonment processes
  • Draft Purchase and Sale Agreements as well as conveyance and ancillary documents and conduct title reviews to identify deficiencies in support of our Acquisitions and Divestiture (A&D) activities
  • Identify and develop process and procedural enhancements to improve efficiencies within the contracts and mineral land team
  • Be active in your sharing of knowledge with peers as well as providing mentorship to junior members of the team
  • Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain is required
  • MBA and other recognized professional designations and training (SCMP, PMP, P.Eng., Lean, Six-Sigma, etc.) are an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of directly related professional experience and/or a combination of commercial and technical work experience is a must
  • Experience in category management, strategic sourcing, contracts management, or supply chain operations, with demonstrated capability in successfully leading large cross-functional or multi-disciplinary teams
  • A deep understanding of contracting and commercial concepts and processes, coupled with strong negotiation skills and the dexterity to lead complex commercial negotiations
  • Able to build trust and respectful relationships with suppliers while collaborating on opportunities and managing performance
  • Extraordinary communication skills, both verbal and written, with the sufficiency to adapt to different audiences, including demonstrated ability to effectively present commercial concepts clearly and concisely
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
