We are currently hiring for a Copywriter for our client, a Canadian food retailer located in Downtown Toronto. The Copywriter will be responsible for writing and editing creative, compelling and engaging marketing copy that is optimized for e-commerce and digital channels. This Copywriter will support the online grocery business and work cross-functionally with stakeholders while creating and maintaining copy standards, executing creative copy, and following projects through an established workflow from concept to launch. The Copywriter role is a 3 month contract with a pay rate of $27-$30 per hour.


Copywriter Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Design and Marketing teams to create compelling content that supports overall digital needs and drives strong online brand identity and experience. Such content will be created for various communication channels, including (but by no means limited to):
    • Marketing emails
    • Onsite marketing creative
    • Digital advertisements
    • External and social media marketing
    • Apps and App Store descriptions
    • Print advertising
    • Instructional/ signage
  • Participate in and contribute to creative meetings and design reviews
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders to define the copy writing guidelines that reflect brand standards
  • Ensure timelines are met and manage process issues with teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of information
  • Continually strive to understand the business needs of each project and combine with effective, unique copy and storytelling
  • Coordinate copy translation and approvals from appropriate departments
  • Maintain and update e-commerce content, researching industry practices



Copywriter Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications or related discipline
  • Exceptional English creative writing and editing skills
  • Previous copy writing experience in retail, online, or e-commerce
  • Strong conceptual thinking
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to take direction and critique
  • Ability to understand/apply/maintain brand tone of voice
  • Ability to write in multiple voices, and work across multiple brands concurrently
  • Experience working with Jira and/or in an agile environment considered an asset
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset (but not mandatory)
