Location: Downtown Vancouver (Transit accessible)

Hours: Mon-Fri: 7.00am-11.00am (20 hours a week / 4 hours each day)


The US Consulate is looking for a Greeter with strong customer service skills to assist members of the public in using the services provided by the embassy.



  • Coordinate the lines of applicants into agreed upon time blocks, according to the time of their appointment.
  • Separate those applicants with special appointments.
  • Maintain control over the lines and entry of the applicants into the Visa/Mission pavilion or waiting room.
  • Verify applicants’ documentation to ensure it is complete and in the defined order to facilitate interview.
  • Remind the public of the time the whole process will take and inform them that they will not be allowed to leave the Visa/Mission pavilion or waiting room.
  • Maintain and facilitate an orderly entrance and exit of all applicants into and out of the waiting areas.
  • Provide other information assistance to the public as necessary.
  • Take action to improve service as necessary.



  • 2 years’ experience in customer service
  • Positive attitude with a strong work ethic;
  • Personable and professional in both appearance and demeanor;
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Confident with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Must be fluent in the local languages used by the applicants. (English and/or French; a third language is considered an asset).
