Adecco is currently recruiting for a Data Engineer. This is a full-time permanent role to work with one of our clients located in Toronto. The ideal candidate is an ace problem solver and a learner at heart.
The Data Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Building pipelines in order to ingest and transform events from application;
- Optimizing events and petabytes of data;
- Optimizing feature pipelines for faster execution;
- Writing frameworks;
- Structuring data sets to build AI products;
- Trying new ways to optimize and build fintech using data;
- Designing, testing and maintaining data management systems;
- Working closely with Software Engineers to build event driven microservices.
The Data Engineer must meet the following mandatory requirements:
- University degree in Computer science of Computer engineering;
- 5 years minimum in a related role;
- Experience with Spark and Kafka;
- Experience with building data pipelines ingesting and transforming more than 10^6 events per minute and terabytes of data per day;
- Knowledge of Flink, Druid, Ignite, Athena and Presto and ability to differentiate them;
- Proficient using Java, Scala, Python or Spark; 
- Ability to connect different services and processes together;
- Ability to maintain zookeeper;
- Good understanding of microservices and data modeling;
- Good understanding of ingesting data from application in data centers;
- Interest in producing clean and testable code part of real-time data pipeline.
