Adecco is currently hiring for a permanent Department Manager to work full-time hours for our client, McDonalds located in Dryden, ON. A McDonald’s Department Manager is responsible for providing leadership to crew and other managers during a shift to ensure Guest demand is captured and great QSC is delivered to our Guests.

In addition to shift management responsibilities, the People Department Manager is responsible for ensuring the restaurant hires quality crew with the Hospitality Gene, trains them well, and schedules them to meet restaurant guest count, sales, profit and 3D goals.

This manager energizes our crew and makes sure they get off to a good start at the restaurant, that they are trained and developed, know the importance of creating great guest experiences and that they are recognized and motivated throughout their time at McDonald’s.

The People Department Manager is responsible for making sure the team meets people targets, set by the organization. The People Department Manager will also be responsible for the onboarding and training of all restaurant employees.

  • Shifts: Open availability for all shifts (1 weekend off a month guarnateed)

  • Prior to being assigned to the People Department, you should have (at a minimum) completed the following curriculum in FRED & Campus:

  • Shift Leadership Foundations Program
  • Clearview Foundations Training
  • Advancing your Shift Leadership Program
  • Department Leader Getting Started Program
  • Upon assignment (or prior to being assigned) to the People Department, your IDP should reflect the timely completion of the People Department Manager LEADING PEOPLE curriculum in FRED/Campus. In addition to the curriculum, with your coach, you will need to address any gaps in your functional training and plan the required shoulder-to-shoulder training on the monthly management planner.

    Review the People Department Support Structure and assign Team Support, as required.

    As the Department Manager, communication is key to success. Weekly, you will have a touchpoint with the General Manager to review all Department strengths and opportunities. It is important that all key department information discussed is shared with your Department Support Team. Identify and utilize the team’s desired method of communication to ensure nothing is missed. Communication tools could include:

  • What’s App team chat (or similar)
  • Communication Logbook
  • Email
  • Determine Targets & KPI’s

    1. Review current business plan and current trends
    1. Based on key areas of focus, determine measurable targets that support the overall business (5-10 items max.), then customize the People Department Scorecard as needed. For example:
  • Active staffing #
  • TTM Turnover
  • 90 Day Turnover
  • # of crew hired
  • Training SOC’s completed
  • Forecasting accuracy
    1. Ensure all targets or updates are communicated effectively to the team.
    1. Adjust the plan or tactics, as needed, to align with the business needs and update Department Scorecard as necessary.

    Responsibilities – RESTAURANT SYSTEM MAPS

    Review each System Map to understand how your role impacts each system that your department supports. As the Department Manager, it is your responsibility to know the OBJECTIVE and SIGNALS to effectively create actions for your department to celebrate success and improve areas of opportunity. Tactics for improvement should be discussed during weekly BRD meetings with your General Manager and team.

    Request time each week to prepare for your weekly BRD touchpoint with your General Manager and team. Ensure you effectively communicate the top 3 strengths and opportunities from the past week and provide clear direction to the team on the action items for the upcoming week you will need their support with. Keep in mind, these actions should have a timeline of no longer than 1-2 weeks.

    Be sure to regularly set, review and update performance expectations with all Team Support members.

    You will be responsible to provide regular performance reviews for your Team Support members, ensure time is planned on the management planner to write and deliver these important touchpoints.

    As the Department Manager, you are also responsible for ongoing growth and development of your Team Support members. Ensure there is a development plan in place and regularly updated for all Team members using the Leadership Development Planner. Keep in mind, when you go on vacation or are away from the restaurant, it will be your responsibility to assign a team lead in your absence. They will attend the weekly touchpoint in your place and communicate any key information to the team.
