Adecco is currently hiring for a Director of Business Development in Toronto, ON. In this role you will increase sales activity, drive revenue and margins in Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) business across Canada. As the successful candidate, you will develop and action a comprehensive strategic plan including alignment to Adecco’s market segmentation strategy. As the subject matter expert on sales in the SME arena, you will champion our client growth and retention strategies, oversee lead generation activities and provide training and coaching to field colleagues to deliver results.

As a qualified candidate, you have proven business development skills with a willingness to prospect, lead and close deals; you are well networked and have a solid, in depth understanding of retail business development opportunities in all local markets acrossCanada. You are also flexible and adaptable to changing business needs, have an ability to travel within Canada and have strong, demonstrated leadership capabilities – specifically, the ability to motivate sales colleagues. Your experience within the staffing and recruitment industry is a definite asset.

Director of Business Development job responsibilities:


Leads and manages Business Development Consultants by defining sales quotas, formal and informal training, observation of lead generation and sales activity, prospect list development and performance appraisals.
Implement and oversee strategies that grow Adecco’s client base and maximize client retention in collaboration with field leadership.
Assesses industry trends, market conditions, competitors and company sales forecasts with a focus on identifying business opportunities.
Oversees the sales and prospect management process and generates competitive pricing strategies. Works to identify funnel opportunities that can be grown into larger accounts.
Personally conducts cold calls, need analysis investigation, face to face sales calls and participates in networking activities to ensure Adecco increases and maximizes their client base, presence in the market and creates new market opportunities.
Readily transfers knowledge to applicable internal colleagues; developing and facilitating formal training programs that impact company profitability and support the overall growth objectives of Adecco Canada.



Director of Business Development Requirements:


Completion of post-secondary education in a related field or years of equivalent experience.
A minimum of 7 years related work experience required, with at least 3 years in a people management capacity.
A proven track record of at least 3 years direct sales experience.
Staffing and Recruitment industry experience required.
Working knowledge of Canadian labour laws required.
