Adecco is currently recruiting for a Director of Group Sales for a permanent placement with our Client in Muskoka, ON.

Responsible to develop and implement Sales strategies to grow market share, achieve and/or exceed budgeted revenue goals and increase client base leading to new group business generation. Oversees the sales systems, daily operations, forecasting, reporting, training, and building of client relationships.  Provides strategic direction, training and leadership to group & F&B sales team and indirectly to event management team to achieve quality customer satisfaction, and to maintain and enhance the excellent reputation of the client.


The Director of Group Sales will have the following responsibilities:

Describe the responsibilities and frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly). 

  • Develop, recommend, implement, monitor and control sales, conducting weekly sales meeting to ensure the maximum capture of group occupancy and guest room revenue.
  • Responsible for growth of market share through lead generation including accessing existing contact databases, building lists through finding prospective customers, boosting sales with leads that have already been verified
  • Reaching out to leads as well as to existing customers through multiple channels, such as email, social media, direct mail and telephone
  • Assist IT &Marketing in enhancing website's design and content,  press releases, newsletters, blogs and white papers, thereby driving traffic to our website related to group business
  • Collaboration with other departments (i.e Food and Beverage and Golf) to ensure successful development and execution of events 
  • Supervise sales employees – interview, train, develop timely action plans, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance reviews, provide open communication, assist in closing business.
  • Compile data, analyze trends, develop accurate weekly and period forecasts and pace reports and communicate to all departments
  • Develop, implement, monitor and control annual sales budget and marketing plan to meet and exceed hotel goals.
  • Participate in business and industry related clubs and organizations; conduct sales activities and Site inspections to build relationships, target new business and enhance the Companies profile.


    This position requires in person, written, email and phone communication with staff, colleagues, agents and clients. Communications is both internal and external contacts.


    This position entails customer service and selling to external clients for group events, meetings and retreats. Communication with internal clients includes other departments within the company and allows them to plan to staff effectively, communicate with the client effectively and encouraging all departments to understand they play a key role in the guest experience as well as the sales process.

    Success can be measured by client feedback through Group surveys, Trip advisor, Twitter and Facebook and return business. Sharing their comments to colleagues and hotel management encourages change, meeting guest expectations, and establishing appropriate service standards.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills)

    Provide the minimum or mandatory education and experience requirements to successfully perform the job, including licenses and certifications.

  • 3-5 years’ experience in related position
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Hospitality Degree or Diploma an asset
  • Valid G driver’s license and own transportation
  • Computer literacy includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer and/or Google Chrome, Group Booking systems, Contact Management programs.
  • Experience with Maestro, Katerease and Sales Force an asset
  • Strong Sales leadership with ability to direct and motivate the team to achieve goals.
  • Well developed sales skills including excellent negotiation, prospecting, presentation and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and detail orientated
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Completion of Sales Training programs ie. Achievers Situational Selling an asset
  • Has established industry contacts and knowledge of marketplace
  • Commitment to superior customer service


  • Supervision and performance management of Corporate Sales Manager
  • Develop, monitor, control and report on Sales operations budget
  • Monitor, manage and report on sales budget, increasing revenues ensuring meeting and/or exceeding annual targets, identifying savings opportunities where possible.


  • Resort location
  • Normal office environment, shared workspace
  • Home office including dedicated workspace with Internet and phone connections.
  • Travel expectations include :
  • regular outside Sales Calls travelling into all areas of the GTA.
  • Some trips include overnight stays and car travel longer than 2 hours.
  • Site inspections  - travel to the Resort
  • Tradeshows located in Ontario


  • Office location -  Normal office environment, shared workspace, sitting at desk, meetings
  • Site inspections – walking the property and buildings with care to stairs and uneven surfaces
  • Travel – able to drive to client office locations with care often under heavy traffic, sometimes with poor weather conditions utilizing 400 series Highways.
  • Required to work flexible hours, some weekends, some evenings.
  • Tradeshows located in Ontario
