Our client, a well-known and fast-growing Utilities Company in the greater Toronto area is looking for a Director of IT Security & Compliance.  This position reports directly to the VP IT/OT and will provide direction on the security practices.  You will focus on mitigating risk for all systems within organization globally.  You will also work closely and collaborate with the companies Security consulting service in managing information security.   This role will take ownership of IT/OT security for the company.

Director of IT Security & Compliance Accountabilities:

  • Support and develop a Global Information Security Program that governs and oversight of entities.
  • Monitor and report on Network security, system and application security solutions.
  • Works closely with Legal and HR on Data Privacy and Security Programs and Policies and collaboratively with other department heads.
  • Ensure audit security access are applied in accordance with the organization policies and application.
  • Coordinate ongoing IT/OT security audits to ensure compliance is inline with requirements.
  • Administer periodic maintenance of systems and applications to ensure new security threats are identified.
  • Spearhead periodic penetration tests along with necessary remediation.
  • Ensure security programs are fulfilled as required, which includes Cybersecurity Training for employees and local compliance requirements.
  • Deliver evidence to support external audit reports for various departments and operational facilities.
  • In conjunction with the IT Security Officer, work with both IT and OT to ensure that company conforms to government/industry requirements and best practices for IT/OT security, such as the ISO/IEC 27000 series, NERC, and NIST frameworks and/or other regional regulatory compliance requirements

Director of IT Security & Compliance Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science.
  • Thorough understanding of IT Security principles and practices.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the IT Security field.
  • CISSP and CISA certification are required.
  • Certifications in IT Security, network administration, server administration.
  • Familiar with Data Privacy laws at a global level which include GDPR.
  • Sound knowledge of network design (LAN, WAN).
  • Experience working with Enterprise Infrastructure technologies and Platforms such as Palo Alto, SIEM, Cisco, Cloud Solutions, Office 365.
  • Sound knowledge of ISO 27000 series framework and industry IT Security best practices
  • Experience with NERC and/or NIST is a strong asset.
  • Strong analysis and attention to detail
