Adecco is currently hiring a permanent full-time Director of Supply Chain - Food Service, in Markham, ON. This is a seasoned supply chain and business leader role that manages suppliers, product availability and the customer support processes that enable products being delivered to customers. This role requires 20 years of progressive related industry experience and experience in supply chain with strong leadership skills as this is a broad leadership role responsible for managing people.

  • Responsibilities:
    Buying

  • Accountable through 2 buyers for the procurement of over 6,000 SKUs of products from worldwide suppliers for both current and custom designed products working closely with the internal Product Development team
  • Strong understanding of overseas strategies for product design, production, volume and pricing negotiations, vendor relationships
  • Understand various country manufacturing and shipping capabilities, understand how products are made, their components and manufacturing options
  • Collaboration with senior sales leaders for quotes on bulk product buys
  • Management of duty drawbacks on exported products to international customers
  • Replenishment

  • Accountable for the ongoing replenishment of products in inventory to meet expected fill rates (95% foodservice, 90% retail) as a critical accountability of this role.
  • Use of analytics to meet above fill rates and to leverage cost and price opportunities
  • Sourcing

  • Oversee a Sourcing Specialist direct report team member and strategies for evaluating and sourcing suppliers for all products finding efficiencies and managing opportunities and risks
  • Manage the processes between SCM and Product Development to speed up the process for product development and the sourcing/supply for approved new products to increase the speed of new products to market to support the sales teams
  • Product Category Management
    Review specific categories and determine:

  • Profitability by category (ROI), turns by category, what is missing from the category and what should be eliminated from the category
  • Product Planning:

  • In conjunction with the Product Development group, assess what products are missing, possible marketing approaches, target market and pricing as well as inventory reduction strategies (overstocks/slow movers)
  • Customer Service

  • Manage the customer service function and largest team in the Company of 12 customer service reps (including 1 Supervisor, 1 Specialist) who currently enter customer orders and respond to customer inquiries for delivery ETAs, warranty claims, calls, eCommerce activities.  Optimize this group with greater technology and processes to:
  • reduce FTEs through greater automation and decrease manual work
  • resolve time consuming pricing discrepancies that slows work down
  • enable greater productivity and standardization from new ERP system
  • provide proactive, attentive customer contact including upselling and enhancing this group’s work from basic order entry to higher value customer experience work including better eCommerce support (eg online chat functionality)
  • Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
  • 20 years of progressive related industry experience with experience in supply chain
  • Rigorous process management to enhance operations with broad business acumen
  • Ability to influence and affect business results through negotiations, service and process standards, KPI/metrics to evaluate operations and opportunities
  • Able to leverage technology and meaningful analytics to manage risk and opportunities
  • Strong financial acumen to manage a significant budget and supply chain function
  • Demonstrated effective team leadership approaches to manage increased team performance
  • Strong demonstrated, polished communications and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships cross functionally as well as externally
  • Some minimal travel to oversees suppliers (meetings, manufacturer site visits), conferences
  • Strong leadership attributes to influence and lead.   High work ethic, integrity, able to work independently, engage with all stakeholders to build relationships, prioritize and manage initiatives with on time delivery, curious to learn business, collaborative with all teams
