Adecco is currently hiring for a permanent, full-time Engineering Assistant in Calgary, AB to work for our client, a well-established and reputable entertainment establishment. In this role, you will support the overall operation of the facility’s railway system including but not limited to the overall operation and maintenance of all locomotives, rolling stock, tracks and other equipment coming under the jurisdiction of the Chief Engineer.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain all pressure vessels; inspect, monitor, and maintain tracks
  • Maintain, repair, and restore locomotives and all rolling stock to preserve each piece to its fullest life expectancy
  • Ensure all railway steam and other steam driven equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner
  • Assist in organizing and complying with the required railway/locomotive inspections in order to preserve the facility’s operating licenses and good standing with governing jurisdictions
  • Maintain concise records, logs, and written information on the railway maintenance as required by law and in support of sound facility archival practices
  • Schedule and supervise seasonal railway staff as required
  • Provide general mechanical repairs for facilities, exhibits, vehicles, and equipment
  • Perform general metal work and welding
  • Advise guests in a helpful and courteous manner
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a role that demonstrates skilled mechanical aptitude
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a 3rd Class Power Engineer Technical Course and ABSA’s Part A and B examinations
  • Must possess a working knowledge of historical boiler design, operation, and regulations, with a demonstrated ability to maintain mechanical maintenance items
  • Familiarity with NBIC, ASME, AB 534, CSA-B51 as it pertains to historical and locomotive boilers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Supervisory and good interpersonal/customer service skills are necessary
