Adecco is currently hiring for a temporary full-time Estimator for our client, a well-established manufacturing company in the HVAC systems industry located in Winnipeg, MB. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and creating detailed cost estimates of materials, sub-contractors, etc. If you have at 2-3 years of relevant experience in project management or estimating roles and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience, this job is for you!

  • Shift: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM | Monday to Friday 
  • Job type: Full-time | Temporary
  • Job responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the cost estimates of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.) - May also perform estimating costs while overseeing other projects
  • Assisting Account Managers in bidding on or determining price of project
  • Developing detailed scope based on Account Managers design-build scope
  • Creating detailed cost estimates based on detailed scope
  • Monitoring the take-off and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc
  • Maintaining competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards
  • Identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that will occur on various projects
  • Optimizing job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials and services
  • Holding job pre-bid meeting with Account Managers to review scope, strategy, etc and documenting work by maintaining files for each job
  • Working with the account managers in providing equipment selections and technical support to consultants and contractors (Application support)
  • Visiting project sites to provide assistance to the installing contractors and/or technical support
  • Creating detailed cost estimates including system sketches, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposal, vendor/sub-contractor quotes, and points list
  • Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, or other related areas
  • 2-3 years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Must have strong financial and business insights/knowledge
  • Must have excellent communication skills (Oral & Written)
  • Must be comfortable with computer applications such as MS Office Suite
  • Ability to learn internal pricing systems
  • Must be able to travel locally (Construction Sites visits & customers) – Travel expenses will be covered
