Adecco's client just north of Barrie, ON is in need of a professional experienced Fabrication Supervisor for their shop floor.  In this role, you'd be responsible for managing a team of 33 welders/fabricators in production with the goal of growing the department to well over 40.

The Role:

  • Manage the overall day-today tasks within the department: manpower, equipment, work flow as it relates to production requirements 
  • Ensure components are welded accurately with detailed drawings and quality plans and pass weld x-rays successfully
  • Provide leadership and technical support to employees on welding and/or technical challenges.
  • Evaluate performance and make recommendations on training or disciplinary action if required.
  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Control and maintain operating budget effectively.
  • Collaborate with Manager of Metallurgy, Machine Shop and Fabrication with regards to Shop activities.
  • Education & Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of welding experience.
  • Post-Secondary education and/or certification in a related technical discipline
  • 3 years previous experience in a leadership position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Training, experience or utilization of lean methodology for process improvement considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding of reading and interpretation of blue prints and schematics
  • Excellent computer skills including scheduling software, Microsoft Office Applications and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems
  • Sound knowledge and experience with CAD required. Experience in AutoCAD/Inventor considered and asset.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy, foundry processes, welding and/or machining are essential
