Adecco is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Payroll and Finance Manager to work partially remotely, for a well-established and dynamic entertainment establishment located in Calgary, AB. The ideal candidate will have a Post-secondary education, partnered with four years of full cycle accounting experience, a completed CPA designation, as well as a strong understanding of general ledger and recording capital assets.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Payroll Administrator
  • Review processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits garnishments, taxes and deductions to ensure timely and accurate processing and support processes as needed
  • Process or review remittances of all payroll related expenses
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
  • Prepare all payroll related journal entries and post to general ledger, including capital and labor allocations
  • Prepare working papers and reconciliations for payroll expense, vacation accruals, pension, and related general accounts
  • Support applications for payroll related grants and reporting
  • Implement and enhance payroll systems and processes  
  • Perform salary and benefit forecasting and budgeting
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis including periodic reporting for forecast and budgets
  • Answer queries and prepare special reports as requested by management, auditors, and employees
  • Support CFO and other functions in the finance department, as required
  • Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education partnered with four years of full cycle accounting experience and a strong understanding of general ledger and recording capital assets are a must
  • A completed CPA designation is a must
  • Must have excellent computer skills, specifically as an intermediate or advanced user of MS Excel; pivot table experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and processes is required
  • Knowledge of report writing tools, Microsoft Dynamics Navision and PayWorks is appreciated
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to communicate with all levels of management are crucial
  • Able to set and meet deadlines and work independently while responding quickly to changing priorities
  • A high degree of comfort in a fast-paced, high volume work environment is a must
  • A demonstrated track record of accuracy and excellence with a high volume of transactions is required
  • Must have strong initiative, attention to detail, and superior analytical skills
  • Able to work overtime if required during peak periods, with proper approval
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
