Financial Planning Analyst

This 18-month renewable contract position is with one of Canada's Best Employers located here in the Durham Region.  

Our client is a well-known automotive company looking for a highly skilled financial professional to join them as an Insurance Planning Analyst. This role is responsible for providing detailed reporting, forecasting and financial analysis to management for co-evaluation of business performance and financial results. This role also ensures services are properly controlled through analysis, budgeting, approvals, and alignment with corporate strategy.  

This is currently a remote position expecting to turn hybrid in the future. Successful candidates must pass a criminal background and credit check in order to be considered for this role.  

  • Pay Rate: Determined by experience 

  • Location: Ajax, Ontario  

  • Shifts: Monday to Friday 8:00am-4:30pm 

  • Job Type: 18-month Renewable Contract 

  • Job Duties: 

  • Develop, build, and maintain a multi-year financial planning tool for all insurance entities

  • Collaborate with different aspects of the company to improve the current business model ensuring risks are properly assessed

  • Use IFRS standards to identify and redesign process improvements and financial models. Test data required for IFRS 17 and implement changes to the planning process 

  • Analyze monthly financial results, understand deviation against forecast/budget, steer business operation and ensure objectives are accomplished 

  • Review, validate and approve purchases and financial commitments/payment requests from vendors against budgets and according to corporate policy 

  • Analyze and approve incentive programs relating to the insurance business. 

  • Develop pricing-based financial statement projections and review monthly Actuals with an eye for pricing relationships and impacts 

  • Conduct variance reporting, providing recommendation on pricing adjustment. 

  • Run periodic product profitability analysis, identify growth opportunity, and review results with the business team. 

  • Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting with preference being given to candidates with a Master's Degree. (Proof required) 

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background and credit check 

  • 2 years in a similar role in forecasting, planning and financial analysis 

  • Strong communication skills – Interpersonal, written, and presentation of quantitative/complex subject matter 

  • Advanced Excel financial modeling skills 

  • Analytical and conceptual thinking – Applying logic and reason, creatively and strategically 

  • Prior automotive finance and/or insurance business experience is an asset 

  • Positive attitude and team player 

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal direction
