Adecco is Hiring! General Manager wanted for beautiful & scenic Chester, Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will provide leadership and strategic direction as well as ensure proper operational controls, procedures, and systems within the company.

In this role, the candidate would be accountable for obtaining the performance objectives of the organization including revenue growth, profitability, cash generation, customer satisfaction, technology development, operational improvements, and talent development through direct report.

With full P&L responsibility, direct strategic and operational initiatives to effectively grow the business and ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. Our client is offering a competitive compensation package based on experience, as well as ability to offer relocation assistance to the selected candidate. Engineering experience or P.Eng is an asset. 

General Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Full management responsibility for all business operations (P&L). Assume control of the business; have a complete understanding of the company, its activities, customers, current strategy, plans and policies
  • Ensure that our customers have a positive experience in all their transactions and its employees, agents and representatives
  • Ensure that product and service quality, as defined by the customer, are achieved and continuously improved
  • Coach and mentor the leadership team to expand their knowledge, skills and abilities to achieve corporate and personal goals
  • Evaluates performance of leaders for compliance with established policies and objects and contributions in attaining objectives
  • Lead and motivate all employees as a team to achieve all expectations and targets set for the company, without compromising a positive and safe work environment
  • Create and encourage an entrepreneurial culture and environment that promotes ownership, innovation and reasonable risk taking
  • Foster a culture of engagement, continuous learning, personal growth and development
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and respect while focusing employees on the delivery of quality products and services to customers
  • Ensure that appropriate, timely, two way communications takes place
  • Review value proposition, strategies and operating plans and determine the immediate and longerterm courses of action to be pursued. Develop strategies to produce growth
  • Establish and manage the sales forecasts, expense and capital budgets to ensure corporate objectives are met
  • Develop and manage key performance indicators
  • Ensure tight control is maintained over business performance and that operating management responds quickly and effectively to any problems or adverse trends
  • Take a collaborative role, with the Business Development Team Leader, in identifying and developing new business opportunities and core areas for growth, including global sales and manufacturing capability development
  • Be responsible for product evolution and R&D engineering activities. Provide a central focus for product development including concept definition, product and technology road maps, long range planning (staff and technology needs), and sustaining engineering
  • Establish and meet commitments for market driven leadtimes and on-time deliveries
  • Proactively resolve technical, people, and production issues to ensure success of the team and consistent production of products
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, sales representatives, agents, third party providers, etc.
  • Develop standards and policies as required and ensure compliance with company standards for efficiencies, cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety and complete ontime delivery
  • Provide leadership across the organization for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships
  • Manage compliance with local, national and international regulations, such as CE and CSA
  • Build company/brand image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices

General Manager Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience in managing business functions
  • Solid understanding of running a complex multi-product international business
  • Ability to manage and negotiate with international large supply chain
  • Demonstrated success in change management
  • Exposure to international business and managing a multinational operational company
  • Direct experience managing manufacturing operations plus sales and marketing knowledge
  • Ability to improve working capital position (Inventory, Receivables and payables)
  • Proficient with Regulatory bodies in the international manufacturing industry: ISO, CSA, CE, etc.
  • Solid working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and implementation
  • Knowledgeable in local health and safety regulations
  • PC proficiency
  • Valid passport required for international travel
  • Valid driver’s license
